It will be hard to resist corny total recall jokes when talking about one Ford truck. It debuted two years ago and still faces plenty of concerning problems that weren’t caught in production. How reliable is the Ford Maverick if it has racked up 14 recalls in two years?

The Ford Maverick has 14 recalls under its belt

The Ford Maverick has been a tight but mighty truck since it arrived in 2022. However, it might be time to slow down and take a harder look at the popular compact truck.

It just received its 31st recall since launching in 2022. It had 14 recalls in 2022, 10 recalls in 2023, and seven in 2024.

But there are still a few months left in the year, it could gain a few more. Keep in mind that the recalls overlap in some cases. The 2022 – 2024 models often face the same issues.

The most recent recall is related to failing rear-view cameras. Other electrical-related recalls involve inoperative windshield wipers, failing tail lights, turn signal failure, and a loss of drive power. Other issues include a leaking fuel raking and incorrect tire information.

While the 2023 Maverick faces a majority of the same problems it also has a loss of drive issue related to undetected low battery power, tires that were manufactured incorrectly, an instrument panel illumination issue, an engine fire risk, and inoperative trailer lights.

Also, the 2022 Maverick struggles with mostly the same recalls. But it adds unintended brake light illumination, side curtain airbag malfunctions, another engine fire risk, fuel tank damage, and improperly attached rear seatbelts to the list.

The recalls can be found on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) site. Ford should correct all of these problems at no cost to owners.

According to J.D.Power, the 2024 Ford Maverick has a reliability rating of 85 out of 100. That’s great and above average.

But do recalls not impact the score? Imagine taking your truck in for service 14 times over two years. Wouldn’t complaints about that impact the score? Maybe not.
