Small SUVs can offer a happy medium for owners who want the practicality of an SUV without the sheer size of larger options. These smaller options have just as much to offer, both as family vehicles and daily drivers, but with the demand for SUVs skyrocketing over the past few years, the market for small and midsized SUVs is growing, making it harder and harder to decide what is worth your time and money. New SUV lines can be exciting, but sometimes sticking to the tried-and-true basics can be just as rewarding.

2021 Honda CR-V

According to Edmunds, the Honda CR-V is one of the best small SUV options of the year. The CR-V has been one of the top options for families because it is affordable and reliable, but there are plenty of other reasons why it’s a good buy. For a small SUV, the Honda CR-V offers an ample amount of cargo capacity without sacrificing comfortable and spacious seating.

2021 Nissan Rogue

The Nissan Rogue is yet another popular family SUV, and it offers quite a bit of feature for the price. The latest update gave the Rogue a complete makeover, making it stand out from the completion with a more aggressive front fascia decked out with modern touches. Test drivers note that the vehicle is spacious and comfortable, but there have been some complaints about road noise when traveling at highway speeds.

2021 Mazda CX-5

The Mazda CX-5 seems to be the less popular of the three options but still a reliable option for a small SUV. Of all of the small SUVs, the Mazda CX-5 is noted for having especially agile handling for a vehicle of its price and comes with a turbocharged option for drivers looking for a bit more pep. The downsides? It has less spacious back seats and is dunked for having a harsher ride quality.

All three options are great choices that vary around the same general price range, making them true head-to-head competitors. While picking between the three might be tricky, any option on this list will surely be a good one.
