The Panamera exerts Porsche’s signature sportiness and precision but in a more sensible package. As this model year comes to a close, Porsche recently unveiled the 2021 Panamera lineup, which includes an updated 4S E-Hybrid variant. But the most remarkable change happens to be available for the Turbo S model. 

More power available on the 2021 Panamera Turbo S

For 2021, the Panamera Turbo S will feature an updated twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 that generates 620 horsepower and 604 lb-ft of torque. This V8 engine replaces the previous one on the Panamera Turbo that produces 550 hp and 567 lb.-ft. Furthermore, the new engine will power the Sport Turismo models. 

Porsche said in its statement that the new V8 empowers the Turbo S sedan and Sport Turismo to go from 0-to-60 mph in 2.9 seconds with Launch Control, which is 0.5 seconds quicker than the 2020 variants. The Panamera Turbo S has a max speed of 196 mph. Additionally, the twin-turbo V8 in the Panamera GTS now gets 473-hp, a 20-hp increase from the 2020 version. Porsche said that it had tuned the GTS engine to resemble a naturally aspirated engine better.

About the 2021 Panamera 4S E-Hybrid

Efficiency is the name of the game for Porsche’s new plug-in hybrid, the Panamera 4S E-Hybrid. This hybridized model will feature a 2.9- liter twin-turbo V6 engine paired to an electric motor. Together, these power sources will create 152-hp and 553 lb.-ft. of torque. According to Porsche, the Panamera 4S E-Hybrid can reach 60 mph in 3.5 seconds. Plus, the Panamera E-Hybrid variants will also have a 27 percent larger battery pack. Entry-level Panameras will have a 2.9-liter twin-turbo engine making 325-hp.

Blending impressive performance with superior comfort, the Porsche Panamera is significantly enhanced and redesigned for the 2021 model year. Further improving performance was a key priority, and several new powertrains reflect that.

Styling elements

To complement its enhanced driver experience, Porsche is also giving the Panamera a few styling updates. The previously optional SportDesign front fascia is now standard on all models in the lineup. For more charisma, you can upgrade to the SportDesign package, with or without the carbon fiber. A new 20-inch wheel design and modern 21 wheel designs are available as options too. 

Upgraded interior elements too

Porsche has also made a few upgrades inside the Panamera, including a revamped multifunction Sport steering wheel with shift paddles. The Turbo S gets a new GT Sport steering wheel with leather-wrapped shift paddles; these features are optional in the other Panamera models. In the GTS, Race-Tex material is throughout. Regarding infotainment, the Panamera will once again come with a 12.3-inch touchscreen interface that supports a wifi hotspot, traffic monitoring, and navigation. 

Availability 

Porsche says that we can expect the 2021 Panamera lineup to debut early next year. The German carmaker will announce pricing closer to the official debut. We can also expect the new Panamera to hit U.S. dealerships by Spring 2021.
