Porsche Roof Tent Experience Turns Sports Cars into Outdoor Adventure Machines
When most people think of Porsche, the first thing that comes to mind is the iconic 911 sports car. Typically, you wouldn’t go straight to offroad adventures and camping. However, with the monument success of the company’s SUVs, the Cayenne and the Macan, Porsche is turning its eyes on the outdoor life. It’s now offering a Porsche roof tent “experience.” Interestingly enough, you don’t even have to own a Porsche to experience camping on top of one.
The Porsche roof tent experience transforms a Taycan into a camping haven
Porsche recently put out a press release wherein the company had a handful of influencers take the roof tent out for a test run. However, these influencers aren’t the only ones who have the opportunity to sleep on top of Porsche’s vehicles. Anyone can!
Though it seems to only be available in Germany at the moment, Porsche is offering what they’re calling a “roof tent experience” wherein you get to drive a Porsche and then subsequently sleep on it. That’s a bit oversimplified, but you get the idea.
The adventure takes place in Germany’s iconic black forest. It’s actually quite a bit more involved than just sleeping on top of a Porsche. The adventure includes a ziplining experience, morning hikes, and even offers e-bike adventures or stand-up paddleboarding. Of course, you also get the experience of a spirited drive through the windy roads of the German Black Forest.
Additionally, an alternate location for the Porsche roof tent experience takes you to wine country, where you venture out on a guided drive through the German wine route. Additionally, this package includes wine tasting and a wine hike with a picnic.
Both packages include the use of a Porsche Taycan Turbo S Cross Turismo and the roof-mounted tent. Additionally, three lunches, two dinners, outdoor gear, pillows, blankets, etc., are all provided.
Each package costs €2,490.00 per person, or about $2,600 USD. That works out to a little over $5,000 for a two-person adventure. Though that’s a bit on the steep side, it’s certainly a lot cheaper than buying the $187,000 Taycan.
Bring the tent experience to the U.S.!
Porsche does offer similar travel experiences here in the U.S. However, none of them give the unique opportunity of roof tent camping atop any of the cars. Frankly, that’s a bit of a letdown. It seems like a good time!
Not to mention, the Porsche experiences here in the states are quite a bit more costly. The company offers a handful of different experiences, including the Pacific Northwest, Route 66, a Colorado experience, and the northeast. However, all of these packages cost $11,400 per person if you’re in a pair or $13,400 per person if you’re going by yourself. In which case, Porsche will pair you with another single-person experience buyer.
Overall, this is a pretty awesome concept. If you’ve got any travel plans to Europe any time soon, you should definitely consider adding the Porsche roof tent experience to your docket. How many of your friends will be able to say they slept on top of a Porsche?
