Barbie was this summer’s hottest movie, leaving viewers dreaming of driving around town in an adorable hot-pink C1 Corvette. If you want to stand out among the ordinary white, black, and silver models found on most highways or just like the color pink, you are in luck, as Porsche has developed a new hue that resonates with the desire for pink cars.

Known for its exquisite luxury brand, the German automaker chose to steer away from a bright Barbie-inspired pink car, instead opting for a sleek and stylish shade that nicely complements its upscale allure. It takes a modern approach to the iconic pale pinks often used in the 1950s, adding an eye-catching metallic finish twist with a touch of gray. 

Porsche is one of the few automakers that offer a pink exterior straight off the factory floor, making the popular color available across the entire Taycan range of products.

Paint options for the Porsche Taycan 

Porsche offers more than 160 pre-approved color options and allows drivers to create a custom color through its newly expanded “Exclusive Manufaktur Program” based out of its Zuffenhausen, Germany factory.

The official name of the pink paint option for the Porsche Taycan is Frozen Berry Metallic. Designers created the new hue, which took four years to perfect, based on the 1992 Porsche color of Raspberry Red. The shade is more of a steely rose color than a true pink, with hints of blue and purple. As one of the newest colors in the Porsche catalog, Rennbow explains how “the tone changes slightly depending on the angle you are viewing it from.” 

Porsche designer Barbara Sika told Vehicle Help, “Color is a matter of taste, but I got all sorts of reactions, from total enthusiasm to absolute rejection.” She explained, “Such a strong reaction means that this is a very distinctive shade. And that’s what we wanted to achieve with this tone.”

The new pink color is available across the entire Taycan product lineup, including the Taycan Cross, Taycan Sport Turismo, and the Taycan Turbo S models.  Vehicle Help says the “extremely popular” color gives the luxury sedan “an edgy look that steers away from making the vehicle look like a Barbie mobile, as some manufacturers inadvertently do when the color is pink.”

How to get a pink car

While anyone can change their car color to pink if they get a paint job, Porsche is one of the few automakers that deliver a unique exterior pink color directly from the manufacturer.

It is not just the exterior that is pink, with the color prominently displayed throughout the luxury cabin. The interior features a pink dashboard, pink leather-wrapped steering wheel, and pink accents highlighted by upgraded gray leather seating and trim.

Meanwhile, Ferrari takes a different approach to the Barbie lover’s hue, with a rule in place that states pink is a color that is not allowed to grace its iconic vehicles.

What you need to know about the luxury Porsche Taycan

Porsche offers several trim levels and body styles for the Taycan, including the Taycan Cross Turismo and Taycan GTS Sport Turismo. The upscale luxury vehicles provide a total digital experience in the innovative cockpit, featuring an intuitive and distraction-free 16.8-inch curved display. A 10.9-inch central dashboard display offers custom configuration for navigation, audio, and communication options. All versions of the Taycan lineup feature a class-leading range, unparalleled performance, and an 800-volt architecture that offers a charging rate of up to 270 kWh when using a DC fast charger.

The base model Taycan has an MSRP of $90,900 with an EPA-estimated driving range of 208 miles. With the performance battery plus configuration, the luxury sedan can get up to 282 miles before needing a charge. When equipped with Overboost Power and Launch Control, the Taycan can generate 402 hp, going from 0 to 60 mph in 5.1 seconds.

If money is no object, the high-end Porsche Taycan Turbo S Cross Turismo delivers a staggering 750 hp, allowing the sporty model to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in a blistering 2.7 seconds. The starting MSRP is $197,500, which is a lot of green!
