Porsche could soon be offering a three-row SUV in its lineup, according to Automotive News. Allegedly, the automaker showed a rendering of an SUV larger than any of its current offerings to dealership employees. Dealers revealed the information, stating that it’s a larger, possibly three-row crossover.

Everything we know about the Porsche three-row SUV

One dealer who described the new vehicle rendering to Automotive News called it “part sedan, part crossover.” The source also claimed it did not share its design with the Macan or Cayenne. The SUV would slot in just above the Cayenne in terms of size. This mystery vehicle is also said to be a plug-in hybrid, with an electric option coming in the future.

Sources did not say the SUV offers three rows. A third row is likely in a vehicle of the size proportions described, though nothing is guaranteed. The Porsche Cayenne starts at $69,000, so we’d expect this one to be a bit more expensive than that.

Is the Porsche three-row SUV real?

There’s no way to know if the rendering will become a reality until the automaker makes an official announcement or confirmation. A Porsche spokesperson claimed it is part of the Porsche Unseen program, which involves renderings for potential vehicles. The person claimed that most of the renderings do not make it “beyond the ideas stage.”

Despite the spokesperson’s claim, it seems interesting to show a rendering to dealers for an idea. Usually, if a dealer hears about the vehicle, it’s closer to production than an idea. That’s all speculation, but the three-row SUV entering production is more likely than Porsche wants us to think.

The Porsche SUV could borrow from Audi

The large Porsche crossover SUV could take innovations from Audi’s Project Artemis, according to Motor1. The flagship electric vehicle uses the codename Landjet and will have advanced driving assistance to allow for long-distance driving with zero driver input. The plan is for technology to be utilized throughout the Volkswagen Group, even in more affordable models.

When was the last time Porsche released a new model?

The last time Porsche released a new model into its lineup was relatively recent, in 2019. The Porsche 992 is the eighth generation of the Porsche 911 sports car. It was unveiled to the world at the Porsche Experience Center in LA in 2018. The two-door coupe is a fan-favorite for sports car lovers everywhere, and it should be.

It comes with one of three engines, a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged flat-6, the same 3.7-liter, or a 4.0-liter naturally-aspirated flat-6. This evolution of the 911 and Carrera isn’t a new model, so that the three-row SUV might be the most exciting Porsche news in a while.

Although nothing is official as of yet, the Porsche three-row crossover SUV sounds promising. The only proof is the word of dealer employees who only saw renderings of the vehicle. These vague descriptions serve as enough to get Porsche fans excited about the future new model. Even if it doesn’t get into production, maybe we’ll see this rendering sometime soon.
