Kelley Blue Book gives out an award for cars and brands that hold value well. New cars often lose value as soon as you drive off the lot, which can cost you money in the long run. Toyota won the 2021 Best Resale Value Brands with five wins, while Porsche won the 2021 Best Resale Value Luxury Brand for the fifth time.

Porsche isn’t a one-trick pony these days. The days of the Boxster being the most popular Porsche on the roads are long gone. Porsche has an extensive lineup these days, and the resale market agrees. Kelley Blue Book notes that the addition of the Macan in the compact luxury SUV segment helped a bit. In addition, the large luxury SUV category saw the likes of the Cayenne.

The Macan came in first in its category, while the Cayenne came in second for its category. The Porsche 911 came in third among the luxury sedan category, and the new Taycan placed third in the electric vehicle category. The 2021 Porsche 718 Cayman is fairly new, but critics and owners alike love it.

How do Porsche vehicles hold value?

Since Porsche isn’t necessarily a high-production brand, there aren’t enough cars on the road to drive value down. Porsche will open pre-orders for a popular vehicle like the 911 GT3 Touring and have to turn people away at some point.

Cars like the 718 Cayman GT4 will have far more interest than production. The GT4 has a top speed of 189 mph with a manual transmission and a 0-60 mph time of 4.2 seconds. For the automatic, the top speed is 188 mph, and the 0-60 mph time is 3.7 seconds. The max power came in at 414 hp from the naturally aspirated boxer-six engine. It starts at $101,200 and, for most people, is out of real. Buying one used doesn’t get any better!

The 718 Cayman GTS 4.0 starts at $87,400 for the manual and goes up to $91,130 for the automatic. This version gets 394 hp and has a 0-60 mph time of 4.3 seconds with the Sport Chrono Package. Porsche has a pretty large lineup this year and doesn’t appear to be slowing down.

What other brands won?

Volvo picked up an award for the Best Subcompact Luxury SUV with the XC40. The 2021 Range Rover Sport won the award for best two-row Midsize Luxury SUV. The 2021 BMW X7 took home the resale value award for the best three-row Midsize Luxury SUV from the BMW corner.

As far as Best Full-Size Luxury SUV? The 2021 Mercedes-Benz G-Class won that category. Lexus took home two awards for the 2021 Lexus IS with the Best Entry-Level Luxury Car and the 2021 Lexus LS with Best Luxury Car.

Overall, these awards from Kelley Blue Book are a good sign if you own one. If you are looking for a good deal on a used car, do some extra research before purchasing. If you do buy a used Porsche, you can bet it will be easy enough to sell again once you are done with it.
