We shouldn’t be surprised by increasing SUV prices, but the Honda Passport just gave us another shock. The Passport already made some moves that caused prices to skyrocket. Now the 2023 Honda Passport is going up in cost again. 

How much does the 2023 Honda Passport cost? 

The 2023 Honda Passport price starts at $42,395. This price includes the $1,295 destination fee. According to Car Scoops, the price has increased by $2,700 over the outgoing model, but it’s not all bad news because all-wheel drive is now standard. 

However, adding AWD to SUVs typically costs about $1,500, so $2,700 is a bit extreme. This increase comes after the cheapest Sport trim was discontinued last year, causing the price to get started with a base model to increase by $5,080. 

The Passport slots between the smaller Honda CR-V and larger Honda Pilot models. The Pilot provides an advantage by offering seating for up to seven passengers. The 2022 Pilot starts at $38,080 before adding AWD and the destination fee, so it could be cheaper than the Passport. 

Is the 2023 Passport worth buying? 

Yes, the 2023 Honda Passport is worth buying. It serves as a spacious SUV with the perfect blend of utility, comfort, and athleticism. Despite being larger, it’s agile and easy to whip around town for daily commutes and adventures. 

The Passport got a facelift in 2022 and remains pretty much the same for 2023. It uses a 3.5-liter V6 engine that churns out 280 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque. The Passport can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 6.8 seconds, which is excellent for the class. 

While the suspension is a bit stiff, the body motions are smaller bumps are controlled pretty well for a comfortable ride. Also, wind and road noise are kept at bay for a quiet interior. 

However, the brakes are a bit squishy. Also, it only gets an EPA-estimated 19 mpg in the city and up to 22 mpg on the highway. 

When properly equipped, the Passport can tow up to 5,000 lbs and carry a payload of up to 1,332 lbs. It can haul mid-size ampers and larger recreational vehicles. 

You can access up to 41.2 cubic feet behind the rear seats and up to 77.9 cubic feet total, based on Edmund’s measurements. The lift-over height is a bit high, but it’s easy to install children’s seats. 

Does the 2023 Passport include enough value? 

The 2023 Honda Passport includes tons of value. The standard EX-L trim kicks things off with 20-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, leather upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, a power liftgate, heated seats, a wireless phone charger, heated seats, power-adjustable seats, and keyless entry. 

Each model comes with standard AWD, blind spot mentoring, rear-cross traffic alert, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and parking sensors. 

You have to upgrade to the Elite trim to access ventilated seats, a hands-free power liftgate, a heated steering wheel, a 10-speaker premium audio system, and Honda connected services. 

While the Passport provides tons of standard features to provide comfort and convenience, we wish it was more affordable. Those who don’t need AWD will have to fork over the extra cash.
