Regardless of how you feel about President Joe Biden pulling out of the 2024 presidential election to make room for another democratic candidate, a new president will take the oath on January 20, 2025. That means the future former president of the United States (POTUS) will head home. And what’s waiting for President Joe Biden? None other than a 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. However, Mr. Biden won’t spend much time at the Vette’s helm after January 20th.

You won’t likely see President Joe Biden behind the wheel of his 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray very often– and there’s a good reason for that

I know, I know. I’ll wait for the “Because he’s old” jokes. However, in all seriousness, you’re not likely to see President Joe Biden behind the wheel of the sweetheart Chevrolet Corvette anytime soon. See, every living U.S. president, current or former, is entitled to protection from the United States Secret Service.

According to the National Archives, the 1958 Former President’s Act entitles a former president to “protection for a lifetime provided by the United States Secret Service.” That means protection details, careful planning, and, you guessed it, driving.

It’s a shame, too. Perhaps Mr. Biden has an image of himself retiring to his cherished home, rolling out his 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, slapping on his aviators, and hitting the road, arm draped over the driver’s side door. I know, a bit cliche for the former most powerful man in the world. Still, the once POTUS will likely dream of hitting the open road in the 350-horsepower classic Corvette.

Under the hood, the POTUS’s Corvette packs a 327-cubic inch L79 V8 hooked up to a four-speed manual transmission. I’ll wait while some of you conclude your chef’s kiss gesture. Better yet, that C2 Corvette got a rebuilt heart courtesy of President Joe Biden’s kids.

The same can be said of Donald Trump, the POTUS predecessor for President Joe Biden. Former President Trump has owned many flashy vehicles, from a Lamborghini Diablo to a gold-treated chopper.

Still, the current president craftily got around the rule at least once. Check out a video of President Joe Biden in his Corvette with tenured TV presenter Jay Leno below!
