Problem Alert: 2022 Ford Maverick Graphics Are Washing Away
There’s something exciting about the car wash unless you have a 2022 Ford Maverick. You get your pride and joy all nice and clean with pretty soap colors, and there’s even a fun song about working at the car wash, yeah. But Ford Maverick owners are finding that the car wash removes their decals.
The 2022 Ford Maverick faces decal issues
According to Motor1, proud 2022 Ford Maverick owners are discovering a problem related to going through the car wash. After getting their trucks nice and dirty, they went through the car wash as normal, only to discover that their factory-applied decals have been washed away.
While this problem isn’t a safety concern, it’s pretty frustrating. Imagine the FX4 off-road graphics, side stripes, and hood decals missing pieces or completely being gone after washing your brand new vehicle.
Is Ford fixing the Maverick problem?
Members of the Ford Maverick Truck Club forum have reported damage to decals after going through automatic car washes, and one owner reported decal damage upon receiving his Maverick from the dealership.
Owners posted First Edition models with the side stripes totally missing, the FX4 decal missing pieces, and more. Some dealerships have offered to replace the decals, and you can have them removed.
Decal issues are pretty rare. Some people are blaming the car washes for having the pressure turned up too high. Others suggest that the 2022 Ford Maverick may have cheap decals. But the issue stems from multiple different car washes and models.
Ford hasn’t commented on the decal problem, and it’s not stopping anyone yet. The 2022 Maverick is completely sold out. Orders open in the summer for the 2023 model. Perhaps Ford will solve this issue by then.
What comes with the Maverick First Edition?
As mentioned above, the 2022 Ford Maverick First Edition comes with side stripes that may get washed off. But this isn’t one of the more popular models. We typically hear more about the Ford Maverick Hybrid or Lariat model instead.
The Ford Maverick Lariat trim costs about $25,860. This is the MSRP and doesn’t include the destination fee or dealership markups. You can add the Maverick First Edition package to the Lariat trim for $1,495. But you also have to add the Lariat Luxury Package, bringing the price up to $33,005.
The package includes:
- Unique First Edition hood and side graphics decals (That we hope don’t wash away.)
- A soft-folding tonneau cover
- Black mirror skull caps
- A black-painted roof
- 17-inch unique aluminum wheels with 235/65R17 A/T tires
- A power tilt/slide moon roof
- Ford Sync 3 infotianment software
The Lariat trim is well equipped with the spray-in bed liner, Band and Olufsen premium audio system, a 400-watt power inverter, and the 8.0-inch infotianment system. It comes in 11 different paint colors, including the exclusive Rapid Red.
It’s unclear if the First Edition package will be offered with the 2023 model. Perhaps a sportier trim will take its place. We will keep an eye on this decal problem and let you know if any other trouble surfaces.
