We have some bad news for Ford Bronco fans. You may have to wait even longer than expected to get your 2021 or 2022 Ford Bronco models. The Bronco is facing more delays and struggles with limited inventory due to the Ambassador Bridge blockade. 

How long is the wait for a Ford Bronco? 

The wait for a 2022 Ford Bronco is about six months to a year. But the waiting time could be different based on what’s in inventory at your local Ford dealerships. Car and Driver recommends asking dealerships about exactly how long the wait is. 

Dealerships have more details about options and timing because they’re able to see what’s coming in. Some people are being told that they may have to wait about six months for the 2023 Bronco depending on which configuration they choose. 

You can reserve a 2022 Bronco online, though, so that’s a good sign. However, reservation holders recently got unexpected delays. Their production dates have been moved back from February to May. 

How to reserve a 2022 Bronco 

Use the Ford configurator online to start building your 2022 Ford Bronco. Then a dealer will schedule an order consultation to help you finalize and submit your order based on your reservation timestamp order. 

If you haven’t converted your reservation to an order, that can be performed online. 

Otherwise, you will need to agree on pricing with your dealer at the time of order entry with a signed purchase agreement and any required deposit. 

When your reservation is converted to an order, you won’t lose your timestamp. After converting your reservation to order, you can make changes before it’s scheduled for production. You won’t lose your timestamp if you decide to make changes before production. 

2022 Ford Bronco hardtop models are expected to be limited based on current demand. Some 2021 Bronco models are being switched to 2022 models. But don’t worry. If your model is delayed, your price is protected. 

The delays are currently being attributed to the ongoing semi-conductor chip shortage. Issues with the hardtop quality have been corrected. But Ford still can’t keep up with overwhelming demand. According to Ford Authority, eight engine plants closed this week.

Also, the Ambassador Bridge blockade is slowing production down. It’s preventing access to two Ford engine plants in Canada. Trucks are being rerouted through the Port Huron, Michigan crossing, adding to delays.

Some people might get lucky as others cancel their orders, making units available. However, if these models arrive at dealerships, they could receive a hefty markup. 

What’s new for the 2022 Bronco? 

Not much is changing for the 2022 Ford Bronco. Production began in December and sports a new color known as Eruption Green. Plus, you can now pair the Sasquatch package with the manual transmission. 

We’ve seen the 2022 Ford Bronco Raptor arrive with its massive fender flares, high-performance Fox shocks, and skid plates. It has a 3.0-liter V6 engine with over 400 hp and is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. 

The 2022 Everglades Bronco is another new trim that targets those in swampy environments. It comes with a factory-installed winch and snorkel. The trap door is located in the induction box to release mud and water, if any makes it up that far.
