Production Issues Have the 2024 Ford F-150 Closing Its Order Bank
The clock is ticking. If you want to order a 2024 Ford F-150, you better hurry. The order banks are about to close. If you miss out, then you might not get a brand-new Ford F-150 until the 2025 model launches.
The 2024 Ford F-150 order book is closing
It may seem early for the 2024 Ford F-150 order banks this year. There’s still about half a year left in 2024. The 2023 F-150 ordering banks closed in September.
August 2, 2024, is the last day you can submit a new order. Get it in by 10 PM EST. You could possibly find a 2024 model at a local dealership, however, if you want a specific color or options then it’s best to order it online.
Ford is closing the ordering bank to catch up on a massive backlog of orders. The problems started when the 2024 F-150 entered production late.
Ford had to correct a few issues before delivering the trucks, then faced product shortages for desired components like the head-up display.
Despite closing 2023 F-150 orders in September, the 2024 models didn’t start coming down the lines until December 2023 or about three months later.
On a positive note, Ford CEO, Jim Farley, said they caught about 12 problems that could have led to huge recalls by pushing back initial delivery dates.
The current production schedule shows that there are supply constraints on the head-up displays, the 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine, the Tough Bed bedlinger, and two tire and wheel options.
Even though Ford has faced a few delays, the F-150 remains the most popular truck in America. It did face declining sales during the first half of the year, but that has been chalked up to production problems.
There doesn’t seem to be any benefits to waiting until production of the 2025 F-150 starts. It’s expected to be a carryover model since the 2024 truck is rocking a recent mid-cycle refresh. Plus, prices could increase.
