Proof the Model 3 Didn’t Ruin Tesla’s Luxury Brand
Tesla has experienced a lot of growth recently. Its cars are selling and the awards are coming in — especially for its Model 3, which is significantly cheaper than the other Tesla vehicles.
In fact, Kelley Blue Book gave Tesla multiple awards for luxury (Best Overall Luxury Brand, Best Value Luxury Brand, Most Refined Luxury Brand, Best Performance Luxury Brand, and Best Style Luxury Brand). It’s easy to see why.
The Model 3 represented Tesla’s effort to create an electric car that could be afforded by the mass market looking for an entry-level electric car with all the bells and whistles that people have come to expect from Tesla. But there are a lot of pros and cons with the Model 3, showing that the company’s luxury brand wasn’t ruined.
Pros of the Tesla Model 3
The Model 3 has generous standard features, such as LED lights, heated front seats, remote start, and dual-zone climate control. The remote start is through a smartphone app and it has many other options, such as heating or cooling.
The Model 3 features a minimalist cabin. It seems to be sparse, but there is a touchscreen for most of the functions, such as steering wheel adjustments. This screen represents a new technology and a Tesla innovation.
The Model 3 does not feature a traditional key and, instead, a remote key is used using a Bluetooth connection. The vehicle automatically opens as you approach with your phone, but the company acknowledged that there may be problems with that, so it gives you two key cards that enable you to get into and start the car. These systems also feature security and software updates over the air.
The Tesla Model 3 is fast. In fact, Tesla has quite a reputation for producing fast cars. The Model 3 is no exception and it has instant and strong acceleration.
This is beneficial because it has fun handling through its sportiness and agility. The Model 3 can also be compared to being a performance car because of its quick responses and road manners. Moreover, the Tesla Model 3 has a good range — longer than other electric cars.
Cons of the car
There are some problems with the Model 3. First, it’s obvious that Tesla used measures to cut costs in an effort to ensure the car would still be profitable, even as it was affordable to buyers. Since there is an expectation that some of this type of activity would occur, it would be expected that more experienced buyers may have lower expectations, but there are some glaringly obvious missteps by Tesla in relation to the quality of Model 3.
The rear bench seat in the Model 3 is mounted too low, which makes it more suitable for a large SUV and, in the case of Model 3, uncomfortable. You also can’t get blind-spot monitoring or rear cross-traffic alerts, which is unusual in a car that uses advanced technology. Some buyers have stated that there have been problems with the finish and the fit (both interior and exterior).
Another major problem has been the long delivery times. These have largely been caused by supply issues and production problems. This has meant that customers have had to wait longer for their vehicles to be delivered. The base model was delayed multiple times.
The Tesla Model 3 may have had its problems, but the outcome has been phenomenal in many respects. Part of this is because of the vast number of functions available for the car for a relatively low price, considering it’s an electric car, and part is because of its innovation. Not only is it one of the cheapest luxury cars available, but it’s also from Tesla — the company that focuses on sustainability.
