The Acura Integra is back for the 2023 model year and it looks sharper than ever before. Just like the iteration from the past, this new Integra shares a lot with its Honda Civic Si counterpart, however, there are a few more advantages. Here are some of the pros and cons of buying a 2023 Acura Integra.

Pro: The 2023 Acura Integra’s hatchback shape equates to a lot of cargo room

If you purchase a 2023 Acura Integra, then you’ll be able to take advantage of its hatchback shape. While the rear end of the Integra might look weird to some, it’s actually very usable. According to Acura, the new Integra boasts 24.3 cubic feet of cargo volume, which is generous.

It’s more generous when you fold down the 60:40 rear seat back to reveal even more space. In fact, you can even fit a mountain bike back there, but you will need to take the front wheel off first.

Con: The 2023 Integra only comes in a front-drive configuration

Before the official specs on the 2023 Integra arrived, we were hoping that Acura would offer it in a Super Handling All-Wheel Drive configuration. Unfortunately, the Japanese automaker decided against it — likely due to cost – so it only comes in front-drive form. That’s fine, though, as the former Integra was only a front-drive car, so we can forgive Acura this time.

Pro: The Integra is priced well in the segment

The base 2023 Acura Integra carries a starting price of $31,895 (with destination), which is cheaper than its rivals from Germany – like the Audi A3. As Ari Janessian – from Negotiationguides.com – also points out, the original Integra retailed for around $17,000 when it was new, which is equivalent to $32,605 when you factor inflation into the current rate. In that case, it’s safe to say that the new Integra is priced well.

Con: Polarizing looks

We’ll admit, the 2023 Acura Integra didn’t look that great during its initial debut. It could have been the massive decal or the yellow paint job. But now that we have seen it in other colors, we think it looks pretty good. However, others do not.

Ari Janessian, for example, thinks that the rear end of the car is its styling weak point. “Quite frankly, it sucks. It’s not easy to like this thing. It’s very hard to tell yourself honestly that back of this thing actually looks good,” Janessian says in the video above. That’s some harsh criticism, but we respect his opinion.

Pro: The car gets good fuel economy

With gas prices steadily increasing all over the country, it’s a blessing if a car can get above 30 mpg. Fortunately, the all-new Acura Integra does. Every trim level is powered by a turbocharged 1.5-liter engine that produces 200 hp and garners up to 33 mpg in combined driving, according to the EPA. That should be enough to get you pretty far between fill-ups.

Con: The six-speed manual transmission is only available on the highest trim

Unlike the previous iteration of the Acura Integra, this new version is only available with a manual transmission on its highest trim. In order to get that slick-shifting six-speed manual, you’ll have to opt for the Integra A-Spec model with the Technology package. According to Acura’s price sheet, that will set you back $36,895, which is $5,000 more than the base trim. However, we’re sure that the ability to row your own gears in this car will be worth it.
