Quality Checks Cause a Massive 2025 Ford Maverick Delay
At first, Ford teased us, and now Ford is making us wait. The updated Ford Maverick was coming in hot with a new look for 2025, but now faces delays due to quality issues. Now it will be even longer before the 2025 Ford Maverick is revealed.
The new 2025 Ford Maverick has been delayed
It’s not like the most popular tiny truck needs any updates yet. It still feels brand new and is selling like hotcakes.
However, teasers of the 2025 Ford Maverick with its refreshed style and upgraded tech made me feel excited. Unfortunately, due to quality checks, we all have to wait a little longer to see it.
Ford CEO, Jim Farley shared that the 2025 refreshed Ford Explorer just entered production in May, but the models are being held so Ford can conduct quality checks.
Farley also shared that Ford will do the same thing with the upcoming Ford Maverick and Ford Bronco Sport. The Bronco Sport will also be refreshed.
The refreshed and redesigned models will be helped for up to six weeks after production starts to provide ample time to provide quality checks to avoid expensive recalls after deliveries begin.
This decision was made after recalls cost Ford about $4.8 billion a year. Ford had the most recalls in 2023 and is in third place with the most recalls so far in 2024.
However, this plan is starting to pay off. By holding the refreshed 2024 Ford F-150 and delaying the launch, Ford caught 12 issues that would have been recalled. Ford has improved its quality by 10% and reduced its defect rate to 20%.
So, waiting for the 2025 Ford Maverick might be worth it in the end. You might get to avoid trips to the dealership due to recalls.
But the 2025 Maverick is exciting for a few different reasons. First of all, it has a new style that’s more confident and aggressive to give the tiny truck a bigger bite.
Also, it could be even more fuel efficient, because rumors suggest that a plug-in hybrid powertrain is in the works. We’re still getting teased about a racing-oriented ST trim as well.
Plus, the hybrid engine might be able to be paired with AWD. Stay tuned for updates!
