In our current market, many might argue that the best trim to get is just the one you can find and afford. This is a little tongue and cheek, but ultimately is the best advice on hunting a Ram 1500.
With this advice in mind, one of our favorites is the Tradesman. Sure, it’s not the fanciest trim (it’s actually the least fancy), but there is a lot of value in buying a simple pickup truck. Ram lists the specs for the 2023 Ram 1500 Tradesman, and while they aren’t all that exciting, they are solid. Starting at $30,695, you get a 305-hp V6, RWD, and an eight-speed automatic transmission. Even in the base trim, Ram outfits the truck with a heck of an interior. The ride is quiet and comfortable, and the upholstery is simple but of quality. The value of the Tradesman is what makes it so great.
Many critics landed on the Ram 1500 Laramie being the best trim for the model. The same thinking goes into the Laramie as it does with the Tradesman. The Laramie is the mid-level trim for the Ram 1500. It starts at $54,470, roughly $15,000 more than the Tradesman but still $10,00 less than the Limited, Ram’s top trim.
Ram casts a wide net
The Ram 1500 is widely considered the best truck on the market. When you consider that there are 54 different configurations, it starts making more sense why so many people love (a) Ram. Think about it; there are basic work trucks (Tradesman), dune-jumping performance trucks (TRX), luxury trucks (Limited), lighter trail-runner off-roaders (Rebel), there are heavy-duty haulers (2500, 3500), and all-around daily drivers (Laramie). And with all these trims and configurations, you can order them with long beds, different motors, various cab layouts, comfort trim packages, and the list goes on and on and on until you hit all 54 versions.
On the one hand, all these trims, configurations, and options can be overwhelming and complicated. On the other hand, it is hard to imagine a truck buyer who couldn’t find some version of a Ram truck that does what they need.
