Two very different trucks both get to celebrate having the same honor. The 2024 Ram 1500 and 2024 Nissan Titan are currently tied as the most reliable full-size trucks. But one truck is dropping its V8 engines as the other is being discontinued.

You wouldn’t expect the Ram 1500 to be the most reliable truck, because it had a lot of issues before the current generation launched in 2019.

Also, you wouldn’t expect the Nissan Titan to be the most reliable truck because it’s being discontinued. But reliability didn’t help the Titan sell more models to stay alive.

Anyways, according to J.D.Power, the 2024 Ram 1500 and 2024 Nissan Titan both have a reliability score of 88 out of 100, which is very high.

Scores between 70 and 80 are average while scores between 81 and 90 are above average. Anything between 91 and 100 is best.

The 2024 Ford F-150 and 2024 Toyota Tundra both earned a score of 78. They are tied as the least reliable full-size trucks available.

Then the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 came in with a score of 80, which helped it enter the above-average segment. The GMC Sierra 1500, its fancy twin, earned a reliability rating of 84.

J.D.Power provides each vehicle with a reliability rating based on feedback from actual drivers. A survey is sent out to thousands of owners, allowing them to report any problems that they struggled with.

Everything from the engine, transmission, electronics, paint, and more is included. Fewer problems or less severe problems lead to a better reliability rating.

The Nissan Titan has been the same since 2016 and its old reliable V8 engine is pretty trustworthy, it’s just thirsty. The current generation of the Titan has only faced five recalls.

The current generation of the Ram 1500 launched in 2019 and it entered the scene with a dismal rating of 69. But it has received quality improvements over the years.

These scores could change as the Ram 1500 launches a mid-cycle refresh with a new engine in 2025 and the Nissan Titan officially bites the dust. Stay tuned for updates.
