Ram Finally Dropped the Name of Its Electric Truck
The electric truck from Ram has been rumored for some time, and now we finally know what it will be called. Now, it’s important to note that we do not have all the details about the Ram electric truck, but we do know more than we did before. It’s supposed to go into production at some point next year, and it’s definitely going to go head-to-head with the Ford F-150 Lightning.
What is Ram’s electric truck called?
Ram’s new EV will be called the Ram 1500 Rev. And, if you’re familiar with Ram’s electric truck, you probably could have guessed that. That is because this pickup was originally called the Ram 1500 Revolution BEV, but that was just a concept version.
More information should be coming on Sunday, February 12th. And for football fans, that means Super Bowl Sunday. Is it possible that Ram has plans to drop a commercial for its electric truck on one of the hottest days for advertising? It’s hard not to see the brand trying to pull some shots at Ford. Which already has an electric truck that is in production.
Ram has big plans for the EV market
According to Car and Driver, the Ram 1500 Rev will go into production next year. Even though the brand did show off this truck at the Chicago auto show, it is still in its concept form. A car concept is essentially a teaser of what a vehicle will potentially be like. And a number of changes could happen to the Ram 1500 Rev before it is officially revealed.
In some ways, it does feel like Ram is a bit late to the show. Ford has already put the Lightning into production, and the brand has actually been struggling to keep up with demand. So while trucks with combustion engines are likely to dominate the road well into the future, there is clearly demand out there for an electric pickup truck.
What could change about the Ram 1500 Rev?
The concept that we have been shown at the Chicago auto show is likely going to be different from what we see on the road. For instance, it’s hard to see Ram producing a truck with coach doors and no B pillar. Another big change might be to the roof. As it stands, Ram’s electric truck concept has a roof that is made entirely of glass. That might not be practical when you’re dealing with things like heat from the sun.
The Ram 1500 Revolution Concept also has something that could be described as a third row. Maybe we will have that in the production model, and it would certainly make it a more practical vehicle. But a three-row truck might not be in the cards.
No matter what happens to this truck, you can be sure that Ram is looking to outdo Ford and the other electric trucks that are on the market. Will it happen? Who knows. We’ll be learning more this Sunday.
