Automakers make changes all the time, from redesigning models to adding features to changing their logo. But when Dodge and Ram split, it seemed unthinkable. This transition happened 10 years ago, so it would seem like it was old news, but people still get confused about whether it’s Dodge or Ram or both. So Ram is aiming to celebrate big for its 10th anniversary, and what better way to dodge the confusion. 

More than a decade of trucks

If you think Ram trucks have only been around for ten years, you’d be wrong. There’s a history behind these trucks, and it has to do with Dodge and Chrysler. The trucks’ popularity led to the saying “if you can’t Dodge it, just RAM it.” Before Ram became its own brand, it was a part of the Dodge brand.

The first Dodge Ram was released in 1981, and several generations followed. But in 2010, when it was in its fourth generation, Chrysler decided that trucks should be its own entity. It separated cars from trucks and created Dodge and Ram. Now the Ram 1500 no longer carried the Dodge moniker. This happened with all the trucks, such as the Dakota. These trucks are selling better and better each year, proving that this business move made sense for the company. 

Ram is celebrating with a limited edition truck

Ram is having a lot of fun with its 10th anniversary. But instead of just one gift, it’s giving Ram fans multiple. Just like it announced another year of the “Built to Serve Edition” of the Ram 1500 to honor those who serve in the military, it’s introducing another limited edition option. Meet the 2021 Ram 1500 Limited Longhorn. 

FCA announced the Limited Longhorn is replacing the Laramie Longhorn. It’s not an entirely new concept, but this 10th-anniversary edition is unique and available as a package. While the Longhorn has always been the most luxurious trim the 1500 offers, it got a bit of a makeover for the special occasion.

The southwestern-inspired interior is likely to be a must-have for many and at only $59k to start, it’s almost too good to be true. It certainly stands out with chrome bumpers, headlight header, and grille, a unique tailgate badge, and 20-inch wheels. Perhaps the only downside is that you can’t see the theme unless you’re on the inside, and that’s where it really shines with extra flair. 

Inside, you get extra plush features, including suede door inserts, leather seat inserts on the bolster, and a leather-wrapped dashboard, each with a southwestern design. The Mountain Brown interior color also has hammered aluminum accents, a special 10th-anniversary instrument cluster and graphic badge, a glossy black shifter cap, real wood trim, and more. There’s even a brushed-zinc badge on the center console in case you forget what you’re driving.

The 2021 Ram 1500 Limited Longhorn is actually shockingly affordable. With the 1500 Limited Longhorn edition, you can choose from the 5.7-liter V8 engine with 395 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque or the 3.0-liter V6 EcoDiesel engine that has less horsepower but more lb-ft of torque. This truck is only available with a Crew Cab, but you can choose which bed length you prefer.

Other features include adaptive LED headlights, side steps, and tow hook. And of course, you get all the standard features along with having the benefits of the most luxurious trim options. These include the new heads-up display and camera-based rearview mirror, optional updated trailer package, and new technology for drivers who put their truck to work behind a plow in winter climates.
