Ram Just Raised the 2023 MSRP of Its Cheapest Truck
Most automakers announce their new model year lineup, and their MSRPs, in the fall. but Ram was tight-lipped about one of its models, the Ram 1500 “Classic” until a month into the new model year. Due to global supply chain issues, Ram actually increased the MSRP of its flagship half-ton truck throughout the 2022 model year, so the 2022 Ram 1500 ended up with a starting MSRP of $37,090. The 2023 model year is only a few hundred dollars more expensive.
Ford is advertising a 2023 MSRP of $33,695 for its F-150 XL. Chevrolet is advertising a $35,600 MSRP for its Silverado 1500 WT. So why does Ram’s current 1500 have the highest MSRP of the Detroit Three? Because this generation Ram is only available with a four-door cab. It is actually fairly competitive with the four-door versions of its half-ton counterparts. Still, Ram new that fleet operators and some drivers would want a cheaper option.

The 2018 Ram, and by extension the Ram Classic, does have the same engine options as the current truck. It also has Ram’s rear coil suspension setup. Finally, it features the classic crosshair grille.
