Ready or Not, the Genesis Electrified Revolution Is Happening
Don’t ignore the incredible things coming from Genesis as it boldly paves a new path in America with distinct Korean luxury. The electrified Genesis models include the groundbreaking GV80, GV60, and GV70, with more to come. With rapid product expansion, while changing the automotive experience, Genesis won’t be slowing down anytime soon.
The electrified Genesis lineup is growing
Things started with the electrified Genesis G80. Now we have the electrified Genesis GV60 and the irresistible electrified Genesis GV70 SUV to enjoy. Each electric vehicle, from sedans to larger SUVs, has unique benefits to enjoy. Plus, the GV70 EV is proudly built in Alabama.
But more is on the way, as Genesis plans to be 100% electric by 2030. All new vehicles will be electric by 2025 and aim to be carbon-neutral by 2035. These may seem like lofty goals, but Genesis is progressing more than you think.
In North America, the ambitious journey started with one EV model that was only available in four states. Now, things have expanded to 33 states with three models as growth countries to expand.
Over 56,000 Genesis models were sold in 2022, but so far in 2023, the total is up to 50,661 units sold. Sales are on track to shatter records, and September has been the best month ever, with 6,644 sales. The third quarter of 2023 is also record-breaking, with 19,247 sales.
What’s new for the Genesis brand?
It’s not surprising that things are on the up and up because Genesis is audacious, progressive, and distinctly Korean. It moves forward with confidence and an unmatched attention to detail and satisfaction to provide every single thing that drivers and passengers need.
Genesis is adopting the North American Charing Standard (NACS) in 2024 to improve the amount of reliable charging stations that can be used. Over 30,000 charging stations will be available with CCS support.
If you already have a Genesis EV, you won’t be left behind. Existing customers with CCS charges will receive NAC adaptors in the first quarter of 2025. Plus, the 2024 Genesis GV60 EV has boosted its EPA-estimated range from 248 miles to 294 miles.
Genesis Home provides home charging solutions with a clean energy evaluation for installing a charging station, premier energy storage, and solar power.
Also, get ready to leave your keys behind. Literally, use your smartphone as a digital key to unlock the doos, drive, and more. You can also add digital keys to other phones and set limitations.
Only allow your teen to access the trunk and let your spouse have driving access. There are tons of possibilities. Other unique security measures include the fingerprint scanner and face connect. That’s right, we said facial recognition.
Genesis Connected Services is now standard for 2023 or newer vehicle owners and lessees. The comprehensive suite features crash assistance, remote access, remote charge management, digital key, stolen vehicle recovery connected profiles, connected routing, and more.
Things such as remote start with climate control and other features can be accessed via smartphone, the web, or with your smartwatch.
How Genesis makes the buying process stress-free
The opening of Genesis of Cherry Hill proved the extreme effort, thought, and care put into every decision to simplify the purchasing experience. Forget the stressful, long, and boring processes at other dealerships. We were extremely impressed to see it for ourselves.
With Genesis, remember SON-NIM, which means honored guest in Korean. Genesis prides itself on making you feel relaxed, welcomed, and cared for. Genesis of Cherry Hill is the first stand-alone retailer in New Jersey and the ninth location overall.
It has a unique, distinctive design that sets an example of what to expect. The floorplan is open and inviting as it displays the entire lineup. Because time is of personal importance and should never be wasted, feel free to make an appointment.
Genesis Concierge is a complimentary service that pairs a customer with a service advisor for a seamless experience, including test drives at the facility, your home, or your place of business.
The complimentary three-year Service Valet subscription allows you to schedule maintenance appointments online or on the app. You get to schedule your vehicle pickup and dropoff locations, and a courtesy vehicle is provided while the service takes place.
Your vehicle is returned after it has been washed, waxed, and the gas tank/charge has been topped off. You’ll receive a Godiva cookie and a signed note from the service technician.
Also, this site is an immersive experience to enjoy. A chime plays as the sliding glass door opens, and it’s the same chime you hear when you start your Genesis vehicle. You’re greeted with a fresh, relaxing fragrance to erase the sterile nature of a typical dealership.
Gentle music plays through multiple Bang and Olufsen speakers, with a high-end Korean tea lounge and several places to sit, talk, and learn about the brand and culture.
The glass windows, including ones in the bathroom leading to a garden, display the full transparency that Genesis has to offer. You can even watch your vehicle receive maintenance in the service bay from a comfortable recliner.
Which electrified Genesis vehicle is best?
It’s difficult to compare the electrified Genesis lineup from apples to apples. We drove each model during an exciting road trip from New York City to Philadelphia. Each model has distinctive perks.
Each vehicle is attractive, with the range to travel across state lines for hours, smart posture care, active noise cancellation, connected safety, brake mode, valet mode, vehicle-to-load charging, and SCC with machine learning.
Conquering the city with the 2024 Genesis Electrified G80
Our journey started in West Manhattan with the 2024 Genesis G80 EV. I’m used to driving on back country roads around North and South Carolina, so it was my first time experiencing NYC traffic. But Genesis truly crafted an engaging sedan that’s effortless and confidence-boosting.
The high-way traffic assist feature has your back with immaculate attention to safety and convenience to help you stay in your lane, provide cross-traffic alerts, blind spot warnings, a head-up display, and a 360-degree surround view camera.
It lets you relax and enjoy the drive without hyper-fixing on buzzing traffic and crowded city streets. The layout is well-planned, with everything you need located within reach as you focus on the road. The voice commands and digital guage cluster are helpful, not distracting.
The Electrified G80 generates 365 hp and has an EPA-estimated range of 282 miles on a single charge. It accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 4.1 seconds.
With a fast charger, you can replenish the battery from 10 to 80% in roughly 22 minutes. A level II charger takes about nine hours to fully recharge the batteries.
The 2024 Genesis Electrified G80 felt like the smartest and most advanced electric option of the day.
Experiencing high-end luxury in the 2024 Genesis Eletrified GV60
After getting away from the bustling city, things were a little more relaxed in New Jersey with the 2024 Genesis GV60 EV. There was finally more time to enjoy the Boost Mode with maximum power for 10 seconds.
It felt smoother than the G80 and slightly sportier, but it is an SUV instead of a mid-size sedan. The interior materials are softer and plush with the unique and ionic jeweled gear shifter. The vegan leather upholstery is soft, durable, and elegant.
The direct steering corners well, and the suspension quickly dampens larger impacts. As the day warmed up, the automatic climate control did an excellent job of keeping the interior nice and cool. The ventilated seats are very impressive for keeping your buns chilly.
The Electrified Genesis GV60 provides up to 429 hp, which is increased to 483 hp with the boost mode. It has an EPA-estimated range of up to 294 miles on a single charge and can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds.
With a DC fast charger, you can replenish the batteries from 10 to 80% in about 18 minutes. A Level II charger fully recharges the batteries in about seven hours.
The 2024 Genesis Electrified GV60 felt like the most relaxing and comfortable option of the day.
Tearing things up with the 2024 Genesis Electrifed GV70
The 2024 Genesis GV70 EV is a little larger than the GV60, and it’s more athletic with well-bolstered bucket seats and perforated vegan leather on the steering wheel. It also features more brushed metal accents.
While it has a stiffer ride, impacts are still well-controlled, and your confidence is boosted to really open things up. The Boost Mode can make the tires squeal. Also, this model has the most noticeable difference between the Sport, Normal, and Eco-driving modes.
Sport mode hastens the acceleration response and gives the breaks more bite, but you can also relax in Normal or Eco mode and take your time around town with effective massaging seats. It was an excellent finale to an immersive and exciting day of driving.
The Electrified GV70 packs a punch with up to 429 hp and can be pumped up to 483 hp with Boost mode. It accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in about 3.8 seconds.
Use a DC faster charger to replenish the battery from 10 to 80% in roughly 18 minutes. A Level II charger fully recharges the batteries in about eight hours.
The 2024 Genesis Electrified GV70 was the most fun option of the day.
The electric Genesis lineup is beating luxury rivals at their own game by paying more attention to what drivers actually want and more attention to detail. Stay tuned for updates on how it’s revolutionizing the entire market.
