According to The Drive, excessive pressure can build up in the engines of Ram HD trucks. This issue causes heat to build up, leading to a high risk of transmission fluid leaks. Such problems could spark an engine fire.

Stellantis recorded 16 vehicle fires between March and October 2022. One person also sustained minor injuries in such an incident. The company is working on fixing the heating problem. HD truck owners can use their vehicles while observing safety precautions before repairs.

Stellantis notes that a warning light might show before a transmission fluid leaks. Hence, Ram 2500 and Ram 3500 users should contact dealers if they notice such an issue. This way, the technicians can examine the vehicle and advise accordingly. Likewise, HD truck owners may avoid losses resulting from fires.

The issued Ram HD trucks recall alert affects vehicles using 68RFE transmission and 6.7l Cummins engine. However, it doesn’t impact trucks that come with the Aisin ASC69RC transmission.
