Recall for GMC, Chevy, Cadillac, and Buick SUVs/trucks 

The vehicles affected by this recent recall include the 2020 GMC Sierra 1500, 2500, and 3500 pickup trucks, Chevy Silverado 1500, 2500, and 3500 pickup trucks, GMC Acadia SUVs, Buick Enclave SUVs, the Cadillac XT5 and XT6 SUVs, the Chevy Blazer, and Chevy Traverse SUVs. 

The issue for these 800 vehicles involves the failure of airbags to properly inflate in the event of an accident. During manufacturing, the airbag inflator’s roof-rail component may not have been properly crimped to the airbag.

This could cause the airbag inflator to separate from the airbag during an accident as it is deployed. As a result, the airbag may not inflate, causing it to be less protective during wrecks. This may also lead to an increased risk of injuries. 

Is your GMC, Buick, Cadillac, or Chevy SUV/truck at risk? 

GM, who manufactures these Buick, Cadillac, Chevy, and GMC trucks and SUVs, will begin notifying owners who are at risk on September 14th. But you don’t have to wait that long to find out if your vehicle is at risk.

What happens if your vehicle is at risk? 

If you have a GM vehicle affected by this recall, then GM will replace the roof-rail airbag modules for free. You will just need to schedule an appointment with a GM dealership. It doesn’t have to be the same dealership where you purchased your vehicle.
