Recall Alert For Toyota RAV4 Models With Failing Suspensions
Warning, we have a pretty severe recall to report about the 2019 and 2020 Toyota RAV4 and RAV4 Hybrid models. It’s worth checking out, because if you’re at risk for this issue, then it could be dangerous to drive your RAV4.
2019 And 2020 Toyota RAV4 Recall For Failing Suspensions
Toyota has issued a recall involving nearly 10,000 RAV4 models, including hybrids that may have failing suspensions. The front arms of the suspension were manufactured with improper materials, making them too weak to function correctly.
As a result, the suspension may come loose from the wheels causing drivers to lose control of their Toyota RAV4. This increases the risk of injury and accidents.
We know that you don’t want to lose control of your 2019 or 2020 RAV4, and Toyota doesn’t want you to either. That’s why Toyota will begin notifying owners of this problem by mid-July. However, that’s a long wait.

Toyota is replacing the faulty suspensions on the affected RAV4 models for free. All you have to do is schedule an appointment for repair at a local Toyota dealership. You do not have to go to the same dealership where you purchased your RAV4.
Toyota RAV4 Recall For Camera Failures
While you’re here, it may be worth checking out other recent Toyota RAV4 recalls that may have affected your vehicle. In August 2019, Toyota issued a recall for a failing electrical connection with the backup camera.
As a result, when placed in reverse, the backup camera may not come on. This will leave you having to back up the old fashioned way, by turning around and looking. Also, the failing cameras fail to comply with the Federal Motor Safety Standard code 111 for rearview mirrors.
If the cameras fail to operate correctly, drivers are less likely to thoroughly check their surroundings before backing up, increasing the risk of accidents and injuries.
Toyota began notifying owners affected by this recall in September 2019. If your vehicle is at risk Toyota will replace your audio system and backup camera unit for free.
Toyota RAV4 Engine Problems
More recently, in February 2020, Toyota issued a recall for 2020 Avalon, Camry, Camry Hybrid, Lexus ES300h, and 2019 – 2020 RAV4 vehicles equipped with the 2.5-liter four-cylinder engines that may leak.
The engines were manufactured with materials prone to cracking. They could allow coolant to leak inside or outside of the engine. A Leaking coolant could cause the engine to overheat or cause traditional gasoline engines to stall. A sudden engine stall dramatically increases the risk of injuries and accidents.
Also, if the engine leaks, the risk of fire and mechanical damage for vehicles involved in an accident are increased. Toyota began notifying owners about this issue in April. They will inspect your engine and replace the engine block for free if necessary.
