When it comes to having fun off-road, Kawasaki has a great lineup of vehicles that can traverse the tough stuff. One of Kawasaki’s off-road offerings is the 2021 Teryx line of ROVs. But the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) just reported a recall alert for Kawasaki Teryx ROV models that are experiencing fuel pump problems.

Although 100 units recalled doesn’t seem massive, it’s still notable that Kawasaki Motors Corp. U.S.A is sending out a recall for fuel pump problems. Thankfully, no injuries or incidents have thus far been reported.

It seems Kawasaki may have caught the issue in time for any dire situations to occur. However, these Kawasaki fuel pump problems with the Tryx line are still serious. The fuel pump retainer plate bolts can come loose, which can cause a fuel leakage over time. This is a potential fire hazard.

The 2021 Kawasaki Teryx ROV

This four-wheel, off-highway utility vehicle is tons of fun. It also comes in a variety of colors. The colors sold for 2021 include camo, gray camo, blue, red, and green. This is a side-by-side ROV. That means there’s seating for two to four people, side-by-side.

If you own a 2021 Kawasaki Teryx ROV model, think your bolts are coming loose, and you want to check up on the recall, you’ll want to check your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). According to Consumer Affairs, the Kawasaki Teryx VIN is found on the steel frame “between the right-front lower A-arm mounts.”On the driver’s side of the hood, you’ll find the model name. If the model name isn’t on the hood, then you can check the front fenders.

A list of model names that might be affected by the recall for fuel pump problems

The CPSC has a list of model codes as well as VIN ranges posted on its website. The 2021 Kawasaki Teryx models affected by the recall include the Teryx S LE, Teryx4, Teryx4 LE, Teryx4 S LE, and Teryx4 S LE Camo. If you feel your unit could have fuel pump problems, you can check the VIN and go from there.

2021 Kawasaki Teryx models were manufactured in the U.S. They were then sold at respective Kawasaki dealers across the country, beginning in March of this year. These units generally sell between $16,000 and $17,900, Consumer Affairs reports.

If you are worried in the least about having fuel pump problems with the retainer plate bolts coming loose, stop using your ROV immediately. The first step will, as we said, be to check the VIN. But where do you go from there? Recalls can be a hassle, but with a few easy steps they are generally resolved simply.

Once you identify your model, you’ll want to contact your Kawasaki dealer. Then, you should be able to schedule a free repair visit to rectify the fuel pump problems with the retainer plate bolts. In addition, known buyers of these models are being reached out to by Kawasaki directly.
