Is the Ram Cummins engine reliable?

If you have a Ram heavy-duty truck with a 6.7-liter turbo-diesel Cummins engine, don’t fret. It’s a reliable and powerful engine with up to 400 hp and 1,000 lb-ft of torque. With proper maintenance and care, this engine can last beyond 350,000 miles.

However, despite being a good engine, no engine is perfect. The turbocharger can get clogged, which reduces the amount of power and can strain the engine. You can replace the turbocharger with an updated part if your older truck faces this issue.

Over time, after long trips, towing multiple heavy loads and using your Ram heavy-duty truck as a daily driver may take a toll on the exhaust manifold. It has to withstand excessive heat. But replacement parts tend to hold their shape a little better.

While upgrading your truck, you may notice the dreaded check engine light on the dashboard, The computer needs to register the presence of the new part, and it doesn’t necessarily mean that something has failed.

You can use a handheld tuner or a tuner+monitor combination to gain real-time updates about how well your truck is performing. This will tell you if something is wrong and allow you to update your ride for new parts.

Also, with multiple tunes, you can enable the option to deliver a more efficient performance. For example, if you’re towing, you can enable your truck to deliver its power in a way that’s optimal for towing.

These problems generally occur after your truck has been through the paces. We will keep you updated about this recall and post a solution as soon as it becomes available.
