Recall Alert: Your Honda Ridgeline Could Have Tonneau Problems
Have you checked on your Honda Ridgeline lately? Because if you drive a 2017 – 2020 Honda Ridgeline model, then you might be affected by the recall. Your tonneau cover may not be adequately secured, which could lead to more problems.
Honda Ridgeline tonneau cover recall
According to Cars.com, the Honda Ridgeline recall is for about 28,900 pickup trucks from 2017 – 2020 that are equipped with Honda Genuine Accessory tonneau covers. If the tonneau cover isn’t correctly secured while in the official open or closed position, it could become displaced due to wind resistance.
As a result, the wind may cause the cover to spin and buckle, adding pressure to the hinges between the center and rear panel. This could cause the hinges to break, allowing the rear panel to separate. If separated, the panel could fall off the back of your 2017 – 2020 Honda Ridgeline and put debris in the road, increasing the risk of crashes or injuries.

Honda will begin notifying owners on October 26th. If your 2017 – 2020 Honda Ridgeline is at risk, you will be notified. You can also call and ask Honda about your Ridgeline at 888-234-2138.

If your Honda Ridgeline is affected by this recall, Honda dealers will install tethers to your Honda Genuine Accessory Tonneau cover to prevent the panel from separating for free. You will also receive an updated user’s manual for the accessory.

More Honda Ridgeline recalls
As long as you’re taking the time to address your Honda Ridgeline, make sure it isn’t at risk for any other recent recalls, according to Cars.com. In October 2019, Honda issued a recall for 2006 – 2014 Honda Ridgeline models, as well as for a variety of different models, including the Acura MDX, Honda Pilot, and more.
The recall is for Accelter Pedal Assemblies part numbers 699-114 and 825-5029-1. These parts were used as replacement parts, and the rotating portion for the accelerator pedal may get stuck. As a result, the engine may not return to idle as quickly once you take your foot off the pedal, leading to an increased risk of wrecks and injuries.
In March 2019, Honda issued a recall for 2006 – 2014 Honda Ridgeline models as well as specific Honda Accord, Honda Pilot, Acura DMX models, and more due to airbag inflator replacement issues.
The replacement airbag inflators were used to replace Takae inflator airbags from a previous recall. But due to a manufacturing defect, during a wreck that causes the airbags to deploy may cause the inflators to explode. This would cause sharp metal fragments to strike the driver and passengers, increasing the risk of injury or death.
