Yes, the Rimac Nevera is faster than a half-mile freefall

We’ll get to the all-important 0-60 mph time in a second, but first we’ll get to the figure that is perhaps most staggering about the Rimac Nevera. This car goes a half mile from a standstill in just 12.82 seconds. That’s .01 seconds faster than a freefall of the same distance. And even if you’ve never been skydiving, you can imagine the type of speed we’re talking about here.

0-200 in 10 seconds: The Rimac Nevera bends time

Acceleration is a difficult sensation to quantify at this level, but the Nevera goes from zero to 60 mph in a mind-blowing 1.74 seconds. To put that in perspective, the fastest BMW M4 on sale today takes a pokey 3.6 seconds to reach the same speed.

The Nevera isn’t done there.

With four electric motors totaling 1,914 horsepower (and no, that isn’t a typo), the Nevera continues its sprint to 200 mph in 8.25 seconds. It takes a Toyota Corolla that long to reach 60. For even greater contrast, the Camaro ZL1 takes 18.4 seconds just to reach 150.

Perhaps the most staggering figure involves the outright pace of this electric hypercar. Not only are the acceleration numbers staggering, but it will do a mile from a standstill in just 20.59 seconds. It actually takes the car longer to reach 250 mph, though it’ll reach that pace in just 21.86 ticks on the clock.

Distance to 100 km/h? 28.96 meters. Yes. In less than ⅓ of a football field, the Rimac Nevera goes from sitting still to 62 mph. Overall, the new Rimac bested 23 performance records in a single day of testing.

World-beating numbers aside, the Rimac Nevera is a wonder of EV performance all around.

What goes up must come down

Not content with posting the fastest acceleration times the world has ever seen, Rimac also focused on the braking performance of the Nevera. After all, if your car is capable of reaching highway speeds faster than most of us can shift from first to second, it’s probably wise to fit brakes capable of reigning it in.

As such, the Nevera accelerates from a stop to 100 km/h (62 mph) and back to zero again in just 3.99 seconds. The same start-stop test at 200 km/h (124 mph) takes just 8.85 seconds. And getting the car up to 400 km/h (248.5 mph) and back to zero again takes less than 30 seconds.
