The 2023 Chevy is hard to beat for speed, looks, and sheer capability. But, is it reliable? Unlike most supercars, you can take your Corvette to your local Chevy shop for any maintenance or repairs. But, unlike most supercars, you may not need to do many repairs. In fact, the Corvette ranks among some of the most reliable performance cars.
Is the Chevy Corvette reliable?
Chevrolet has made great strides toward improving reliability, especially in the Corvette. According to J.D. Power, a 2023 Chevy Corvette earns a 93 score for quality and reliability, which means it’s among the best in its segment. Since this is a Corvette, it’s also no surprise that the driving experience ranks great, as well, with a score of 89. Furthermore, the Corvette took J.D. Power’s pick for the best premium sporty car of 2023, beating the Porsche 911 and Porsche 718 Cayman by a couple of points.
J.D. Power isn’t the only agency to rate a new Corvette C8 highly. At RepairPal, the cars get an above-average rating of 3.5 out of five stars. It does have an above-average ownership cost, but nothing like a premium badge European sports or supercar. Moreover, the 2023 Corvette has zero reported problems, and the 2022 versions have very few reported issues, too.
For 2023 the Corvette gets a 70th Anniversary edition
Chevy loves anniversary specials. 2023 is the 70th anniversary of the Corvette and, of course, there’s an anniversary edition available for the Z06 package. The 70th Anniversary edition comes in White Pearl Metallic or Carbon Flash Metallic, which is Chevrolet-speak for white or black. Both come with new wheels and lots of red trim. There’s red trim on the wheels, seats, door panels, hood, and even the seatbelts and brake calipers are painted red.
Even if you don’t get the anniversary package, everyone will know your car is a 2023. Every 2023 Chevy Corvette gets an anniversary badge on the center speaker and the rear windows.
What’s new for the 2023 Corvette?
This year the Corvette Z06 gets a new 5.5-liter flat-plane-crank V8. While it has less displacement than the Stingray’s LT2 pushrod-activated 16-valve V8 mill, it makes more power. Specifically, the new 5.5 liter LT6 makes 670 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque. General Motors says it is the highest-horsepower naturally-aspirated V8 in any production car ever at the time of this writing.
For 2023, the Z06 version is also wider to allow room for larger rear tires and more airflow. Furthermore, the Z06 has a new heat exchanger and an adjustable rear spoiler. Those with the means will want the new carbon fiber wheels which drop 41 pounds of unsprung weight from the car, which helps the suspension stick the tires to the tarmac. Chevy even turned the downforce on the Z06 up a notch with the new Z07 package, which adds a carbon fiber wing, ground effects, magnetic ride shocks, and new tires and brakes for track-day shenanigans.
