Rent an Acceleration Increase for Your Mercedes-EQ for $1,200 a year
While there have been many changes to the automotive industry in recent years, one change has also been universally rejected: renting or paying for features through a subscription. Now, you can rent an acceleration increase for your Mercedes-EQ EV with an annual subscription. Buyers of the Mercedes-EQ EQE sedan and SUV and the Mercedes-EQ EQS sedan and SUV are eligible for this acceleration increase.
Rent an acceleration increase for your Mercedes-EQ for $1,200
Listed on the Mercedez-Benz website under comfort, you can find the Acceleration Increase option. The automaker says this will allow you to add more power and torque and increase the max output of your Mercedes-EQ EQS or EQE. Mercedes says this addition will “unleash enhanced performance for your car.”
“Noticeable improvement in acceleration of 0.8 to 1.0 seconds (0-60 MPH).”

What else does this $1,200 play offer? The automaker says it will adjust the motor’s characteristic curve, torque, and maximum output. You don’t need the DYNAMIC SELECT drive program either, as Mercedes says the increased acceleration is available regardless.
How much of an acceleration increase does your Mercedes-EQ get?
Mercedes says that this subscription can increase the maximum motor output (kW) of your Mercedes-EQ EQS SUV or EQE by 20 to 24%. The rental will also increase the acceleration time to 60 mph by 0.8 to 0.9 seconds.
Vehicle | Performance boost | Acceleration change (from 0 to 60 MPH) |
Mercedes-EQ EQE 350 4MATIC | from 215 kW to 260 kW | 6.0 seconds to approx. 5.1 seconds |
Mercedes-EQ EQE SUV 350 4MATIC | from 215 kW to 260 kW | 6.2 seconds to approx. 5.2 seconds |
Mercedes-EQ EQS 450 4MATIC | from 265 kW to 330 kW | 5.3 seconds to approx. 4.5 seconds |
Mercedes-EQ EQS SUV 450 4MATIC | from 265 kW to 330 kW | 5.8 seconds to approx. 4.9 seconds |
This acceleration increase is available on an annual subscription at $1,200 per year, which is $100 monthly. This might be a good option if the vehicle isn’t fast enough for you. The average car moves from zero to 60 mph in about eight seconds, which means these electric vehicles are already faster from the factory.
Why do people have an issue with such offerings?
While subscription-based upgrades for vehicles aren’t new, offering what is essentially a tune from the factory on an annual basis is new. Buyers have been able to “rent” things like OnStar or navigation from automakers for years, but most buyers let the subscription lapse instead of paying for it for the car’s life.
Some buyers might find this an attractive option, but the general person is not out buying $140,000 electric vehicles from Mercedes. Adding a modest acceleration increase via an annual subscription might appeal to some of the intended audience, but this car and this subscription are out of reach for most people.
So yes, you can make your Mercedes EQE or EQS about one second faster for 365 days for $1,200. You can also rent the rear-wheel steering option for the EVs for $571 annually. If your $100,000 electric vehicle isn’t perfect, Mercedes has all the upgrades you need for rent.
