ROV Recall Alert: Polaris Ranger, ProXD, Gravely, and Bobcat utility vehicles
In late March, Polaris issued a recall for a list of ROV models and utility vehicles. The recall involved somewhere around 43,000 ROVs and utility vehicles after being sold in North America. Apparently, the Polaris Ranger, ProXD, Gravely, and Bobcat utility vehicles experience issues with a potentially breaking drive belt.
This problem is serious because if the drive belt breaks during operation it’s likely to cause other damage as well. Specifically, the inner clutch cover assembly and fuel line. According to Consumer Affairs and its report on the recall, this can lead to a fuel leak that results in a fire hazard.
Three confirmed reports of drive belt failure
There have been three confirmed reports of drive belt failure, Consumer Affairs reports. All three of these failures resulted in a damaged fuel line. In fact, two of those three ultimately ended in an actual fire.
Thankfully, the only reported property damage so far has been the ROVs or utility vehicles in question. There aren’t any further reports of extraneous property damage so far. Nor any injuries reported.
Which Polaris ROV and utility vehicles are affected by the recall?
The recall includes several models associated with the Polaris manufacturer, headquartered in Medina, Minnesota. According to the Consumer Affairs report, the models involved include the Polaris Ranger 1000 and Ranger Crew 1000 from both the 2020 and 2021 model years.
In addition, the 2020 ProXD 2000G and 4000G units are affected. Furthermore, 2020 and 2021 model year Ariens/Gravely JSV3200, JSV3400, and JSV6400 vehicles. Also, the 2020 Bobcat UV34 4×4 gas and UV34 XL gas, and 2021 Bobcat UV34 4×4 gas off-road vehicles.
The recalled vehicles affected sold in a variety of colors. These colors included black, red, green, titanium, tan, camo, gray, blue, and white. The recalled Ranger models have either three or six seats. The ProXD, Ariens/Gravey, and Bobcat off-road vehicles have either two or four seats.

Manufactured in both Mexico and the U.S., the recalled utility and off-road side-by-side vehicles were sold at Bobcat, Ariens, and Polaris dealers across North America. With sales beginning in 2018 and up until December 2020, the units sold for between $13,000 and $18,500––according to Consumer Affairs.
What to do if your side-by-side is recalled
Naturally, if you fear your vehicle is affected by this recall you should immediately cease using your unit. After that, you should contact your Ariens, Polaris, or Bobcat dealer. That you can schedule a time to bring your utility vehicle in for a free inspection, diagnosis, and (if necessary) repairs.
The brands will reach out to the documented buyers of each model. Bobcat, Ariens, and Polaris are notifying dealers as well. This should help locate every purchased model that may need an inspection.
