Russian Instagram Model’s $500,000 Swarovski-Encrusted Lamborghini Aventador Gets Smashed
They say that “diamonds are a girl’s best friend,” but in the case of Russian Instagram model, Daria Radionova, they’re an obsession. Radionova is known for encrusting her supercars with millions of Swarovski crystals and her collection includes a Lamborghini Aventador. Unfortunately, that bejeweled Aventador was recently totaled in a crash in Kensington, London.
The Swarovski-encrusted Lamborghini Aventador was rear-ended
While you might think that this story would involve a spectacular crash with Daria Radionova behind the wheel of her Lamborghini and possibly under the influence. Or perhaps you might think that she was distracted while posting on Instagram to her 627,000 followers. But on both accounts, you would be wrong.
Instead, the blinged-out hypercar was rear-ended, according to the Daily Mail UK. Judging by the pictures, it looks like the car was parked on the side of the street when the crash happened as well. Thankfully, it doesn’t sound like anyone was hurt including Radionova, who was not in the car during the time of the incident.
Radionova offered a cash reward
Radionova posted about the accident right after it happened and offered a £5,000 ($6,722) cash reward for anyone that can locate the blue Vauxhall Zafira that ran into her car. Judging by the cost of the Aventador itself, not to mention the millions of crystals attached to it, we can see why the offending car stormed off. However, that doesn’t mean that it was the correct thing to do.
According to Yahoo News, Radionova wrote on her Instagram, “I hope karma slaps you in the face before I do.” However, it looks like Radionova is going to be slapped first, with an enormous repair bill. Of course, one can only imagine how much the repairs to the car itself would cost, let alone all those crystals.
This particular Lamborghini Aventador was a special edition
In case you’re wondering how anyone could attach millions of crystals to an exotic car, then we’ll point you to “Car in Cloaks.” This is the London-based company that wrapped Radionova’s cars, which includes the ill-fated Aventador, a Bentley, and a Mercedes-Benz C-Class. It’s a shame, considering the company was quoted by Forbes saying, “If Bruce Wayne were a girl, this would be his car.”
The auto body shop will likely be doing a lot more work than wrapping the car if Radionova ends up taking it there for repairs. However, it’s likely totaled, so it could end up in a junkyard or maybe even auctioned.
What makes the matter even worse is that the Lamborghini smashed in the accident wasn’t just any Aventador, it was a Superveloce. That means it carries a revised 6.5-liter V12 engine that produces a whopping 740 hp and 509 lb-ft of torque. According to Car and Driver, that immense power is enough to rocket the car from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.7 seconds and down the quarter-mile in 10.5 seconds. To add more insult to injury, this Aventador Superveloce was only one out of 600 ever produced.
Yeah, we can see why that Vauxhall driver took off.
