The RV Life Is Good for the Soul, and Your Overall Health
Maybe you’ve dreamed of owning an RV, hitting the road, and never looking back. It can be a fulfilling experience that frees you from the typical grind of day-to-day life. But RV traveling isn’t just good for your soul, but also for your physical wellbeing. The RV lifestyle you’ll have to adapt to and the places your visit can actually keep you healthier in ways you didn’t expect.
RV travelling can help boost your immune system
Travelling exposes your body not just to new environments, but also new germs. And while exposing yourself to germs isn’t ideal as Covid-19 rages on, it can be a welcome side effect of traveling to new places. Your body needs to learn how to fight these germs, and encountering them in your own clean environment (i.e. your RV) can help your body learn how to fight them.
Speaking of which, if you struggle with allergies every year, spending more time outside can actually alleviate them. It sounds counter-intuitive, but the more time your body spends around allergens, the more you’ll adapt to them. This isn’t the case for things you’re allergic to, but for sneezing in the great outdoors, getting used to the environment is great.
Travelling can lower your stress level
Part of this depends on how well you plan your RV trip. If you know where you’re going to be RV camping or packed everything the night ahead, then you won’t find yourself as stressed prepping for the trip. However, even if you’re rushing out the door, the drive to the location and relaxing at the RV campsite allows you to focus on the present.
Remembering that there’s more to life than worrying about what happened in the past or stressing about what’s going to happen in the future is crucial for one’s mental health. And coincidentally, your mental health is directly linked to your physical health. The happier you are, the more responsive your immune system will be.
You also won’t have to worry as much about financial stress. RV living can be expensive if you don’t make use of it. But if you’re going on camping trips every other weekend, or taking longer cross country trips, you won’t be spending as much money as you would if you continuously booked plane tickets. Besides, RV traveling means you never have to deal with airport security again.
Living in an RV forces you to improve your diet
If your RV can’t fit in a drive-thru or a restaurant parking lot, you’ll find yourself shopping for healthier alternatives a whole lot more. Besides, if your RV has a kitchen or outdoor cooking space, why wouldn’t you use it? Sure, you may be eating more canned vegetables, which keep longer than other things. But you’ll also find yourself making more RV meals rather than buying cheap, fast food options.
Picking the right kinds of snacks, fruits and nuts over candy bars, can also improve your diet. But all in all, you’ll find yourself making these little changes if you decide to live the RV life. And even if, at the very least, these RV adventures are an excuse to escape to the great outdoors, while still reaping the health benefits of RV travel.
