The Safest Minivans With the Best Safety Packages and What to Opt For
Not all drivers are ready to hop into a minivan, but sometimes a sport utility vehicle just doesn’t cut it anymore. Kelley Blue Book has some of the safest minivans with the best safety packages in 2022. While you shouldn’t need to add any additional Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), let’s break down what each vehicle comes with.
The Honda Odyssey is one of the safest minivans with the best safety packages
When Kelley Blue Book chose the safest minivans with the best safety packages, the 2022 Honda Odyssey checked all the boxes. Thanks to its comfortable interior, history of reliability, and solid resale value, the entry-level LX trim is all you need. Honda quipped the 2022 Odyssey with eight airbags, automatic LED headlights, and high-beam assist.
Included with this trim are adaptive cruise control (ACC), lake-keeping assist (LKA), lane departure warning (LDW), and traffic sign recognition. Forward collision warning (FCW) and automatic emergency braking (AEB) is also included standard. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) awarded the 2022 Honda Odyssey with its Top Safety Pick Plus award. All of the best safety packages are already included on this Honda minivan.
Best Safety Value: $33,040 (LX)
Base Price: $33,040 | Expert Rating: 4.6
Check out the Toyota Sienna, one of the safest minivans with the best safety packages
The 2022 Toyota Sienna only comes with a hybrid powertrain, which gives this minivan 36 mpg in combined fuel economy. All-wheel drive is an available option, as are automatic LED head and taillights. Kelley Blue Book suggests adding these safety features to the LE base trim. Also included are 10 airbags and high beam assist. The IIHS awarded the 2022 Toyota Sienna with the Top Safety Pick Plus award. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gave the Toyota minivan mainly four and five-star safety ratings.
FCW, AEB, LDW, and ACC. BSM and RCTA are other included safety features. The LE Plus Package added an automatic dimming rearview mirror and a bunch of other features for $2,375, but that addition is up to buyers.
Best Safety Value: $35,285 (LE)
Base Price: $35,285 | Expert Rating: 4.7
Don’t overlook the Chrysler Pacifica as an option
Kelley Blue Book says the 2022 Chrysler Pacifica is one of the more versatile options. With folding seats and added cargo room, what else does the Pacifica have to offer buyers? KBB suggests the Touring trim level to get all the added safety features. You don’t get all-wheel drive with it, but Chrysler offers automatic headlights, fog lights, and daytime running lights.
ACC, FCW, and AEB are included, along with blind-spot monitoring (BSM). Rear cross-traffic alert (RCTA) and lane-departure warning (LDW) are also features of the Pacifica Touring. The IIHS also awarded the Pacifica minivan with the Top Safety Pick Plus award this year.
Best Safety Value: $37,095 (Touring)
Base Price: $37,095 | Expert Rating: 4.5
When it comes to finding a safe minivan, there isn’t an overabundance of options out there. That’s why these options from Honda, Toyota, and Chrysler are so important. While the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems might go by different names depending on which automaker you choose, each one is important in its own way.
