The 2020 Toyota Supra is a compact sports car that comes equipped with several sought-after features. The exterior of the Supra is outlined in sleek lines and well-defined curves that help to give it a sporty and agile look. At first glance, the car looks very similar to the BMW Z4. However, once you start to explore all of the high-tech features that this car comes with, you can instantly see the differences.

Recently, Motor1 reviewed the Supra and found it to be just as wonderful as long-time Toyota fans thought that it would be. And although most people were already expecting the Supra to be an impressive car, there was one particular aspect of the car that really seemed to surprise everyone.

2020 Toyota Supra highlights

The 2020 Toyota Supra comes with a plethora of style and comfort features. The exterior features LED headlights and taillights. When you first glance at this car, it is hard to miss the three large vents on the nose, side, and rear of the car. The vents don’t serve any purpose other than making the car have a sportier feel to it. The rear spoiler is subtle but helps to add even more to the overall sportiness of the car.

The interior of the car is a little cramped and only offers seating for up to two people. The infotainment display is 6.5 inches, but you can get the available 8.8-inch display that comes equipped with a navigation system, Apple CarPlay, and a 12-speaker JBL audio system.

Are Toyota vehicles safe and reliable?

Toyota has not always had the best reputation when it comes to safety and dependability. From 2000 to 2010, Toyota had several thousand complaints about the accelerator pedal getting stuck in some of its models, which caused 89 deaths and over 50 injuries. In 2010, Toyota recalled over 3 million vehicles and vowed to fix the problem as well as prevent it from ever happening again. Because of this problem, there was a stigma attached to Toyota vehicles for a while and many people had a hard time trusting the company.

For the last few years, however, Toyota has worked hard to make each of its vehicles more safe and reliable. In 2017, Toyota received more safety awards from the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS) than any other automobile brand. Some of the vehicles that won the IIHS Top Safety Pick for that year included the Camry, the Corolla, the Prius, and the RAV4.

Toyota was doing good and earning its customers’ trust back until this year when they announced that they would be recalling around 1.8 million Lexus and Toyota vehicles. The recall includes several models that were made between the years 2013 and 2019. The Toyota executives said that they became aware of a problem with the fuel pump on some of its models. For some reason, the fuel pump can stop working, which could cause the car to stall while driving down the road. So far, there have been no reported deaths or injuries from this latest problem.

What surprises drivers most about the Toyota Supra?

At first glance, the 2020 Toyota Supra looks like any other compact sports car. However, as Motor1 noted, it sets itself apart from other cars in its class by offering one of the most comprehensive safety packages that the market has to offer.

The Supra comes equipped with the Toyota Safety Sense system which includes, lane departure warning with steering assist, automatic high beams, and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection at no extra cost. If you are looking for a car that has a few more driver-assist features, the Supra also has available rear cross-traffic alert with automatic emergency braking and full-speed adaptive cruise control for only about $1,200 more.
