Save With the More Affordable 2024 Ford Ranger Wildtrak X
We’re still waiting for the Ford Ranger to arrive in America, but we keep learning about what to expect. Here are new trim levels to consider to meet various needs, and some will provide savings. For example, the 2024 Ford Ranger Wildtrack X is a more affordable Raptor alternative.
What is the 2024 Ford Ranger Wildtrak X?
The 2024 Ford Ranger Wildtrack X is a new trim level that slots in between the decked-out Ford Ranger Raptor and less intense Wildtrack models. It bridges the gap between the two with a more affordable option in the middle.
If you want to get a little more than the Wildtrack has to offer without spending Raptor money, then this could be the perfect fit. It may not provide performance upgrades that the Raptor has, like more engine power.
The Wildrak X sets itself apart with a unique grille. Ford Authority noted that the grille has integrated driving lights, Cyber Orange accents, Wildtack X badging, and black blue oval badges. We can also spot steel skidplates, aluminum side steps, and black accents.
Plus, it has the new standard Ford Flexible Rack system with a sliding load rack and folding roof racks to store more gear.
What comes with the 2024 Ranger Wildtrack X?
The 2024 Ford Ranger Wildtrack X features a 33mm widened track with 26mm more ground clearance for more stability and travel. It rides on unique 17-inch wheels wrapped in 265/70 R17 General Grabber AT3 all-terrain tires.
It’s the first model that’s available with full-time four-wheel drive instead of part-time. Also, the suspension includes Bilstein position-sensitive dampers.
It has a Rock Crawl mode similar to the Raptor’s to increase control on tricky surfaces at lower speeds. Plus, Tail Turn Assist brakes the inside rear wheel to reduce the turning radius by up to 25 percent. Other driving modes include Normal, Eco, Tow/Haul, Slippery, and Mud/Ruts.
The interior is plush with leather upholstery and Miko suede trim. Wildtrak X is embroidered on the headrests with Cyber Orange accent stitching. Terra suede covers the glove box, instrument cluster, and door trim.
The auxiliary switch package is standard. You get a larger 12.4-inch cluster screen and an upgraded Bang & Olufsen premium audio system.
What engines will the 2024 Ranger have?
The official specs for the 2024 Ford Ranger haven’t been released in America. But we can assume that the Ford Ranger Wildtrak X may have less power than the new Ford Ranger. Some rumors suggest that the Ranger will have a carry-over engine.
Currently, the 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine cranks out 270 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque. It could be enhanced to provide more power or different outputs. Power might increase to 300 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque.
In overseas markets, the Raptor has a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine with 392 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque, which is exciting. Plus, don’t forget about the possibility of the Ranger Hybrid to arrive.
The Ranger Wildtrak X could be slightly different in America compared to the models in other countries. But we have a good idea of what to expect. It should be a little more capable than the regular Wildtrack without going as far or getting as expensive as the Ranger Raptor.
