The 2021 Ford Expedition just got cheaper 

According to AutoBlog, the 2021 Ford Expedition has a new base model with a lower price. You can save with the XL STX. Previously, the XL model was only for fleets, but now you can enjoy it with a starting price of about $49,995.

But this price is before the $1,695 destination fee, so it’s more like $51,690. Plus, dealerships may add a markup to create a profit. Pricing may vary based on your area, but this model still provides about $2,815 work of savings compared to the Expedition XLT. 

Where exactly are these savings coming from? Form the third-row seats. This Expedition only has seating for five, but the third row is included as a standard feature on every other trim option. 

But maybe losing that third row has a few advantages: 

  • You get to save $2,815.
  • You get more cargo space. 
  • You don’t have to haul your kid’s friends around. 
  • There may not be enough seats for your mother in law to ride with you. 

Along with the third row, you also lose the Ford Co-Pilot360 bundle of driver assistance and safety features, rear parking sensors, satellite radio, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and the garage door opener. Also, the XL STX isn’t available in the extended-length Max form. It could just be me, but why say XL if it isn’t the largest size? 

If you choose the 2021 Ford Expedition XL STX, you get a few special features such as 18-inch alloy wheels that are painted Magnetic Metallic, a gloss-black five-bar grille, and gloss-black mirror caps. 

What comes with the Ford Expedition XL STX? 

You still get the same amount of power. Each Expedition comes with a turbocharged 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine that pumps out 375 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. This bad boy can accelerate from 0 to 60 mpg in 5.9 seconds

When properly equipped, the 2021 Ford Expedition can tow up to 9,300 lb and carry a payload of up to 1,750 lb. Rear-wheel drive comes standard, but you can add 4×4 for $3,050. So, trading the extra seats for more capability might be a good deal. 

Ford Expedition XL STX features 

In other Expedition models, there are 20.9 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third-row seats. In XL Expedition models, there is up to 104.6 cubic feet total. In the Max, there is up to 121.4 cubic feet total.

According to Edmunds, the Ford Expedition has excellent acceleration, but it can feel large and cumbersome. But it is easy to maneuver in the city. The seats are very comfortable, and the ride is a little choppy. Also, it’s a bit louder than rivals.
