Well, folks, it looks like the 2023 Ford Maverick is already gone as soon as it arrived. Apparently, Ford is planning to close orders for its small truck, meaning you will no longer be able to buy one directly from the factory. If you are familiar with the Maverick, this should be no surprise. The 2022 model was extremely popular, and Ford was forced to close those order banks early too.

Can you buy a 2023 Ford Maverick?

The best way to purchase a new Maverick truck is by filling out the form on Ford’s site. Doing so will alert your preferred dealership that you are interested in a compact pickup. But, according to Fox News, Ford has closed orders for the Hybrid model, and the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine is likely to follow. 

This is sure to come as a disappointment to those who have not already placed an order. Maybe if you are lucky, your local dealership will receive an allocation of Ford’s small truck. But the situation does seem fairly unclear. 

What’s new for the Ford Maverick?

Because the Ford Maverick is new for 2022, there are only some major changes for the 2023 model. Perhaps the largest of these is the introduction of the Tremor package. The 2023 Ford Maverick Tremor is a small truck that is well-equipped for tough situations. It has a one-inch lift and even boasts a new all-wheel drive system. 

If you want a Maverick Tremor, you must opt for either the XLT or Lariat model. And the Tremor is only available with the turbocharged engine. The Blue Oval is still offering the FX4 Off-Road package. So, if the Tremor seems to be a little much, you can always opt for that. 

Is the Maverick a good truck?

If sales are any indication, the Ford Maverick is a good compact pickup. According to Ford, 60% of buyers are new to the brand, and that includes 80% of the hybrid truck buyers. So far this year, over 50,000 units have been delivered to customers. And some are still waiting to receive their 2022 models. 

Clearly, Ford got something right with this small truck. It comes standard with a hybrid engine which means legitimate efficiency, all while getting the utility of a pickup bed. Plus, the Maverick is a good value proposition. With its starting cost of around $20,000, truck owners can get a new vehicle for an affordable price. 

Will the Ford Maverick be reliable?

As a new truck on the market, the Maverick has seemed fairly reliable so far. Of course, as owners put more miles on this compact pickup, that could easily change. It is not uncommon for new vehicles to experience recalls and other issues. An auto manufacturer can only test for so many issues before a truck is put into production. 

But, hopefully, moving forward, the Maverick proves itself to be a reliable pickup. Especially as owners put miles on their new small truck.
