We’re sorry to bring potential bad news to fleets, but Nissan NV Commercial Vans are being discontinued in North America. Options like the Nissan NV200, Nissan NV Cargo, and more are saying goodbye. 

Nissan NV commercial vans are being discontinued in the US 

According to PickupTruckTalk, Nissan NV commercial vans will have their production of full-size options end by next summer. This is because the Nissan NV vans fail to compete with more popular choices such as the Ram ProMaster and Ford Transit. Currently, Nissan only has 4.9% of the van market share segment. 

Stiff competition and low sales are also why the Nissan Titan was discontinued in Canada. Cutting back on low sales options allows Nissan to save cash and find other successful sources of revenue. 

For example, the refreshed 2022 Nissan Frontier should generate interest in the growing mid-size truck segment. Also, Nissan suggests that it will continue to provide other commercial vehicles. However, if they pull the plug once, they could do it again. 

Nissan continues the Business Advantage Program 

Fleets and auto dealers that focus on Nissan NV vans don’t have to suffer, yet. Nissan will still offer vehicles through its new Business Advantage Program. They provide unique pricing advantages for businesses that need between 1 to over 100 vehicles. 

They will match you with the perfect vehicle for the job, including trucks for contractors, cars for rideshare drivers, and spacious SUVs for realtors. They also provide benefits as your work fleet expands. You don’t have to buy 10 vehicles at first. You can start with 2. 

Is the 2020 Nissan NV Cargo Van a good option? 

You might be able to do better than the 2020 Nissan Cargo Van, which has a starting price of around $30,140. Edmunds only gave it a ranking of 1 out of 5 stars, so that’s a little concerning, but they had pros and cons to list. 

It’s part of the first Nissan NV generation introduced in 2012 and didn’t receive any updates for 2020. It has two powerful engine options, including a 4.0-liter V6 engine with 261 hp and 281 lb-ft of torque.

You can also upgrade to the 5.6-liter V8 engine with 375 hp and lb-ft of torque. The 2020 Nissan NV Cargo van can tow between 2,000 to 9,400 lb and carry a payload of between 2,630 to 3,858 lb. 

This van has enough power to get the job done, but it doesn’t come in all-wheel drive or 4×4. Also, unlike competitors, it doesn’t have a diesel engine option and has fewer body styles and configurations to choose from. 

Edmunds wasn’t impressed by the interior and said that it seems outdated. They found that the Nissan NV Cargo Van has limited tech as well. But by upgrading to the SV trim, you get power-adjustable mirrors, rear parking sensors, cruise control, trim panels on the cargo walls, and a four-speaker stereo that includes satellite radio and steering wheel controls.
