Scout Boats Partners with Honda Marine To Produce Next Generation of Outboard Boats
Scout Boats, the South Carolina-based manufacturer behind many luxury center console boats is partnering with Honda Marine to produce exclusive boats and collaborations. However, it’s more than a “Blank x Blank” gimmick. No, the partnership will result in an all-new, exclusive Seabrook Series of outboard boats.
Scout Boats and Honda Marine will partner up for an all-new boat series
Scout Boats already produces many luxury boats, from 17-foot sport fishing vessels to 67-foot center console cruisers. However, the company’s nascent partnership with Honda Marine will result in all-new Honda boats, built for the Japanese manufacturer by Scout.
The biggest news is the development of Honda’s new Seabrook Series. In addition to the partnership, Scout Boats will produce the Seabrook Series vessels exclusively for Honda. The new boats will be available in two 19.5-foot configurations: a Center Console and a Dual-Console model.
Power will be courtesy of Honda’s BF150 iST outboard motors. The motors are 150-horsepower, VTEC four-stroke applications with the company’s Intelligent Shift and Throttle (iST) function. VTEC should sound familiar; the Variable Valve Timing & Lift Electronic Control System has been present in Honda’s cars like the Civic and Accord for years.
What’s more, the iST system is good news for maneuver-challenged boaters. It takes out some of the guesswork by simplifying things down a single trim control switch. It’s especially helpful on multi-engine applications. In yet more good news for fans of easy maneuvering, the new Honda boats feature new dashboard-style helms and hydraulic, “automotive-syle” steering.
The Director of Honda Marine, Daniel Sherlock, had this to say about the recent partnership. “This new, strategic brand partnership with Scout Boats is designed to offer an innovative, feature-rich form of marine industry boat-and-engine packaging that integrates with a simplified, consumer-friendly shopping experience.”
The new Seabrook Series boats will be available through Honda’s marine network.
