Sebastian Vettel Is Hawking His Ferrari F50, LaFerrari, Enzo, and More After Split
Breakups are tough. Whether you are in middle school or a grown man who races Formula 1, when you get dumped, we tend to want to shed everything that reminds us of that ex. The difference between most of us and a Formula 1 driver is that we might burn some letters and throw away an old t-shirt or something when we get dumped. When a Formula 1 driver, like Sebastian Vettel, gets dumped, he gets rid of a few million dollars worth of Ferrari hypercars.
Vettel and Ferrari split
After living his life-long dream of racing for Ferrari in the most competitive sport on earth, Sebastian Vettel was let go by Ferrari, and now he is ready to let go of his Ferraris. Unlike most people who buy a Ferrari, Vettel was encouraged to get the best-of-the-best red cars – and got the best he did.
According to The Drive, The Vettel Ferrari collection is for sale via British exotics and vintage broker Tom Hartley Junior, and it is a hefty collection at that. Vettel and Hartley have worked together in the past with selling F1 memorabilia, but this is a bit of a different ballgame.
Vettel is selling his F50, Enzo, LaFerrari and five more
This collection is a “quality over quantity” type of deal. Only eight cars are being sold, but the result will still be well into the millions of dollars. Along with the three top-tier red cars, Vettel is also selling an F12tdf and a 458 Speciale, Ferrari’s final naturally aspirated, mid-engined V8 supercar. Vettel is selling a few non Ferraris as well, and while they are plenty serious, the three pony cars are the ones bringing all the eyes to his breakup sale. There is a pair of AMG Mercedes, an SLS, and an SL65 black series along with a lone BMW Z8 leftover from the old days racing with the BMW boys, no doubt.
As far as the three hypercars go, Vettel has been pretty easy on each of them. Being a professional driver and being supernaturally rich, it is easy to see how he probably didn’t feel much desire to drive his mega Ferraris too often.
2016 Ferrari LaFerrari
According to Motorsport.com, the 2016 Ferrari LaFerrari didn’t last long on the open market. Only 500 of these were ever made, and Vettel bought this one as soon as he joined the Ferrari team, making this one of the last LaFerraris to be made. This hyper-hybrid Ferrari is pushed around by a 6.3-liter V12 and electric motor working in concert to make an incredible 949 hp and 663 lb-ft of torque. That is wild to us mere mortals, but for an F1 driver, that is aint nothing but a thing. Oh, and it sold somewhere around $2 million—no big.
1996 Ferrari F50
The next hypercar to get the ax was his iconic 1996 Ferrari F50. While this one is a bit older than its garage mates, it is in no way lesser than. Most car nerds of Vettel’s generation had a poster of the F50 on their wall as a kid, but this car has a direct tie to F1. Ferrari put the 4.7-liter V12 developed from the F1 engine of the early nineties into this road car. It is an astonishing car, and it is no surprise that it would sell so quickly. With 4,312 miles on the clock, it’s no surprise that Vettel landed another cool nearly $2 million for this OG hypercar.
2004 Ferarri Enzo
Lastly, Vettel’s 2004 Ferrari Enzo is still on the chopping block with no hammer fall yet. Predictably, the salesman claims this as the finest Enzo for sale anywhere in the world. Seeing as how it only has 1112 miles on it, he may be right. Ferrari only made 400 examples of this 651-hp, 6.0-liter V12-powered horsey car. Sebastian is only asking $628,000. Compared to the others, this is basically free.
