Secret 2022 Nissan 400Z Information Allegedly Leaks Thanks to a Video Game
The Nissan 400Z is set to arrive relatively soon to replace the aging 370Z. However, since we’ve only seen the concept version of this upcoming Nissan, there is still plenty we don’t know. However, a video game might have leaked its information ahead of the global debut.
According to a post on the NewNissanZ forum, a user named “Rusty” opened up Project Cars 3 and began tinkering with the upcoming Z. Part of the game allows you to view your car’s stats before selecting it. This is where the alleged secrets are revealed.
However, given that this information comes from a video game, it’s best to take it with a massive grain of salt.
What secrets does the Nissan 400Z hold?
While we’ve seen the Nissan 400Z’s concept car all over the web, there is much we don’t know. Thankfully, we do know that the production model should look quite close to the concept car. Additionally, the production variant will reportedly house a twin-turbo V6 under its hood. However, we have no clue how much power it will develop.
Aside from raw power figures, we do know that the Nissan 400Z will send all of its available power to the rear wheels via an optional six-speed manual transmission. Additionally, Motor1 reports that a performance-oriented version is also set to arrive sometime in the future.
According to Motor1, you should expect to see this sports car out on the streets later this year. However, Nissan hasn’t announced when the global debut will take place.
How much power will it develop?
If you’re wondering how much power the Nissan 400Z will develop, that’s exactly the secret this alleged leak claims to shine a light on. In Project Cars 3, the concept version of the 400Z develops 444 hp. While that is a massive step up from the 332-hp 370Z, it isn’t far-fetched.
According to Motor1, rumors suggest that the upcoming Z will likely house the 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 out of the Infiniti Q60 Red Sport. In the Infiniti, the engine already develops 400 hp. As a result, early rumors suggested that the 400Z would share that same power output.
Additionally, this Project Cars 3 leak also allegedly tells us how much the Nissan 400Z will weigh. According to the thread on NewNissanZ, this means that the upcoming Z could tip the scales at 3,251 lb. For context, that is drastically heavier than the Subaru BRZ and Mazda MX-5 Miata. However, it is slightly lighter than the Toyota Supra.
Should you take the video game’s stats seriously?
While it may be exciting to get an inside scoop on the upcoming Nissan 400Z, there are a few reasons why this information could be inaccurate. The first comes from the fact that it reportedly leaked through a video game. We highly doubt Nissan would give game developers detailed information of such a highly-anticipated model.
Secondly, the vehicle featured in the video game is the concept car. Since the Z will likely undergo some changes before reaching production, these stats will likely change as well. Regardless, we won’t have to wait long for the global unveiling of the production model.
