SEMA 2021: 3 Custom 2022 Ford Maverick Trucks Previewed
By the time you read this, SEMA 2021 will be in full swing, and the blue oval will have a trio of 2022 Ford Maverick trucks on display in its massive exhibit. The three custom Ford Maverick trucks are part of the 11 trucks total that the American automaker will show off during SEMA week. Just before the show kicks off, Ford provided an early look at what attendees can expect.
D.R.A.G.G. 2022 Ford Maverick Pickup
80s kids might remember the D.A.R.E. program from elementary school, which was an initiative between law enforcement and educators to teach kids about the dangers of drugs. Today, there is the D.R.A.G.G. program which stands for “Drag Racing Against Gangs and Graffiti.”
D.R.A.G.G. puts police, industry professionals, and at-risk youth together into a program that opens a path to a career in the automotive industry. The program offers mentorships, scholarships, internships, and classes that count for school credit.
D.R.A.G.G. has partnered Oxnard Union High School in California, Oxnard police, and Ford to build a beach rescue concept 2022 Ford Maverick truck for SEMA 2021.
The beach rescue concept truck has toolbox swing cases, a roof rack, crossbars, and a watersports carrier. The truck also features a custom lifeguard rescue livery and emergency lights.
Air Design USA SEMA 2021 Ford Maverick
Air Design USA is an aero parts company from Oceanside, California, specializing in exterior modifications for trucks, SUVs, and cars. Since the 2022 Ford Maverick is brand new, Air Design seized the opportunity to join Ford’s SEMA 2021 program to develop new parts for the compact truck.
Air Design USA started with a Ford Maverick Lariat SuperCrew FX4 with Off-Road Package as a base. The particular trim it received comes equipped with a 2.0 liter EcoBoost engine. From there, Air Design added newly designed fender flares, door moldings, and a tailgate appliqué styling package. The exterior is finished off with a bed cap and 18-inch wheels.
For performance, an exhaust that starts after the catalytic converter was added, along with a 1.5-inch lift and 31-inch all-terrain tires.
Tucci Hot Rods Maverick
Tucci Hot Rods is a custom performance shop based in Marcy, New York, that blends classic style with modern fabrication techniques. Its portfolio of work includes everything from a custom-built 1931 Ford Model A sedan to a 2019 Ford Mustang GT built for a NASCAR driver.
For SEMA 2021, Tucci Hot Rods worked its magic on a 2022 Ford Maverick XLT equipped with a 2.0 liter EcoBoost engine. Tucci Hot Rods lowered the truck with a coil-over suspension system to give the Maverick an aggressive stance. Then Tucci designed and 3D-printed one-off fender flares, rear spoiler, and front lip.
For a “rally-inspired” look, a set of custom deep dish turbo-fin style wheels were custom made to fit flush within the custom widened fenders.
To boost performance, a Borla cat-back exhaust complete with dual carbon fiber tips is bolted on. The interior of the Tucci Hot Rods Ford Maverick has a host of Ford accessories products, including an F200 IR dashcam. The inside is finished off with four Recaro Sportser seats with racing harnesses and custom-painted trim accents.
These three Ford Maverick trucks are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to what Ford has to offer at SEMA this year. Stay tuned to MotorBiscuit for more SEMA 2021 coverage and to see the rest of Ford’s custom vehicle lineup.
