SEMA 2022: Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Gladiator Win Best SUV and Midsize Truck of the Year
Jeep impressed the judges at SEMA with an SUV and a truck! The Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Gladiator were awarded the SEMA 4×4 or sport utility vehicle of the Year and SEMA midsize Truck of the Year. What else is there to know about SEMA 2022? Jeep has plenty of custom builds waiting for industry folks at the Las Vegas Convention Center this week.
Both the Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Gladiator took home awards at SEMA this week
Stellantis announced that many of its cars, trucks, and SUVs took home awards this week at the annual Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show. The Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Gladiator won the award for the best 4×4 or SUV of the year and the best midsize truck of the year.
What’s not to like about the Jeep Wrangler? Stellantis says it is one of the most recognizable vehicles in the world. The Wrangler “delivers unmatched off-road capability and is produced with more than eight decades of 4×4 engineering experience.”
Some powertrain options on the Wrangler include a 3.6-liter V-6, a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine, and 3.0-liter EcoDiesel. Another option is a 6.4-liter V-8, and the new plug-in hybrid Wrangler 4xe uses a “2.0-liter turbocharged gas engine, two electric motors, and a high-voltage battery pack.” Jeep’s body-on-frame design continues along with all of the other off-roading upgrades.
Jeep’s Gladiator is the best midsize truck of the year
It is clear that the Jeep Gladiator appeases everyday drivers and experts, which is why it took home the award for SEMA midsize truck of the year. Jeep built the Gladiator from the ground up to be a capable off-road truck. Equipped with a 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine or a 3.0-liter EcoDiesel engine, buyers can choose what makes more sense.
What else makes the Jeep Gladiator stand apart? A versatile truck bed, body-on-frame design, front and rear five-link suspension system, solid axles, and electronic lockers. Buyers can also order the Gladiator with a six-speed manual transmission, one of the very few trucks to offer that option.
Stellantis says the Jeep Gladiator is made to keep up with an active lifestyle, “delivering an open-air driving experience in a design that is unmistakably Jeep.”
The Dodge Challenger and Ram 1500 also impressed the judges
Also from the Stellantis brand, the Dodge Challenger was voted Car of the Year by SEMA judges. More specifically, the Dodge Challenger SRT Super Stock impressed the judges with its 807 horsepower from the factory. That is just one version in a sea of Dodge Challengers mentioned.
SEMA also honored the Ram Truck brand for its efforts as a stand-alone truck division. There is a Ram truck for everyone from the Ram 1500, 2500/3500 Heavy Duty, 3500/4500/5500 Chassis Cab, and ProMaster.
If you are in Las Vegas for SEMA this week, don’t miss out on the Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Gladiator celebrations. Jeep, Ram, and Dodge have tons of concept vehicles and builds for industry folks to check out at the show.
