If you wanted the Ford Maverick to have a little more off-roading power, then your wish could come true. The Ford Maverick Tremor could be on the way. This little off-roading truck could kick up some serious dirt. 

The Ford Maverick Tremor is coming 

We have good news for off-roading fans! The Ford Maverick Tremor name has officially been trademarked. The trademark application was filed with Chile’s National Institue of Industrial property to cover the Ford Maverick Name in that country. 

So, while we can be excited that some sort of off-roading focuses little truck is on the way, we’re also a bit worried. Why was the trademark filed in Chile instead of America? Will the Maverick Tremor be available in America? 

Ford has a history of allowing other countries like Australia and Brazil to gain cooler off-roading models than America. For example, the Ford Ranger is a lot more capable overseas. Other countries even get the new Ford Ranger first. 

What to expect with the Maverick Tremor? 

Instead of obsessing over if the Ford Maverick Tremor will come to America or not, we can speculate about the potential upgrades. It could follow in the tracks of its bigger siblings like the Ford Ranger and Ford F-150 Tremor models. 

The trademark filing describes the use of the Tremor moniker for motor vehicles, namely cars, pickup trucks, electric vehicles, sport utility vehicles, and all-terrain vehicles. That covers a lot of basis for Ford to use the Tremor name wherever it wants. 

We aren’t worried about the Maverick’s ability to become more capable. Sure, it shares the same unibody platform with the Ford Escape, but it’s also the same platform that underpins the Ford Bronco Sport. After taking the Bronco Sport on trails, it’s very impressive. 

The Maverick comes with an optional 2.0-liter turbo-four engine with 250 hp and 277 lb-ft of torque, so it doesn’t need more power. Of course, we expect the Maverick Tremor to come with standard all-wheel drive. 

Upgrades could include larger all-terrain tires, a factory-installed lift, off-road-tuned monotube dampers, front tow hooks, and skid plates. Locking differentials and more driving roads could be added as well. 

When will we learn more about the Maverick Tremor? 

We’re still waiting to learn more about the Ford Maverick Tremor. But a Maverick that sits about an inch higher than the Maverick FX4 model has been spotted in testing. It could be the Ford Maverick Rattler trim.

The Maverick FX4 package adds front tow hooks, underbody skid plates, 17-inch aluminum, and wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires. You also get an upgraded, heavy-duty engine fan, radiator, and trailer hitch receiver. 

Additional driving modes include sand and mud/ruts. Plus, you get the 6.5-inch productivity screen. It has an 8.6-inch ground clearance but only an 18.1-degree breakover angle. It has a 21.6-degree approach and 21.1-degree departure angle. 

The Ford Maverick Tremor may build upon these upgrades to be more capable. More suspension travel and a new bumper design would be helpful. We’ll keep you updated as we learn more.
