Should You Buy a Kia Telluride or Wait for the Kia EV9?
The Kia Telluride midsize SUV is a hit among consumers. The Telluride provides incredible value for the money. South Korean automaker Kia is also producing a new electric SUV, the Kia EV9.
The Kia EV9 is the future of Kia SUVs
The Kia EV9 concept has been popping up at different auto shows. The EV9 is like nothing that the automaker has ever produced yet.
The 2024 Kia EV9 is a two-row full-size SUV with third-row capability. It has a solar panel on its hood. The electric vehicle’s interior is made up of sustainable materials.
The EV9 electric SUV features a massive 27.0-inch display and a pop-up steering wheel. It’s the most futuristic Kia model yet. Car and Driver claims the EV9 could be Telluride-inspired. The automotive publication expects the Kia EV9 to range from $50K to $65K.
Kia has already successfully produced one electric SUV nameplate, the EV6. The Kia EV6 has a maximum range of 310 miles and a maximum horsepower output of 320 horsepower. Kia has yet to release electric motor or battery specs for the EV9. If the Kia EV9 truly is inspired by the Kia Telluride, then the EV9 could be an incredibly impactful model for the South Korean automaker’s lineup.
The Kia Telluride has made its mark on the industry
The Kia Telluride first debuted back in 2020. In just two years, the Telluride has catapulted to the top of midsize SUV rankings.
The 2022 Kia Telluride starts at $33,390. It uses a 3.8-liter V6 engine to make 291 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. The midsize SUV achieves 20 miles per gallon in the city and 26 miles per gallon on the highway.
The Telluride comes standard with SynTex seating materials, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a smart key with push-button start and remote start. It includes one-touch sliding and folding second-row seats, navigation-based smart cruise control with stop and go, and safe exit assist.
The Kia Telluride made a huge impact on the industry because of how much value it provides for an affordable price. It comes with plenty of great standard features and provides even more value at higher trim levels. Car and Driver recommends the SX final trim level.
Is the Kia EV9 the next Kia Telluride?
The Kia EV9 should be larger than the midsize Telluride. Buyers will be more hesitant to buy the EV9 because it’s a fully electric model and it’ll be more expensive than the Telluride. Ultimately, the EV9 won’t be as popular as the Telluride because of its size and powertrain, but it will still make a huge splash in the industry because of how unique it is.
