The 2023 Nissan Rogue is on its way to dealers this fall. Are the upgrades worth waiting for? Maybe not because Nissan hasn’t scheduled any updates to the 2023 Nissan Rogue SUV. Nissan redesigned the Rogue for 2021 and the new Rogue doesn’t really need many updates. The 2022 Nissan Rogue is the company’s best-selling vehicle for a lot of reasons and dealers will likely want to get rid of 2022s ASAP.

Consumer Reports doesn’t recommend it – but others do

Though Consumer Reports doesn’t recommend the Rogue, the magazine does like the Rogue. The Rogue earned an IIHS Top Safety Pick+ designation. It won Cars.com’s 2021 Compact SUV Challenge. It is the second-highest rated compact SUV at J.D. Power, where owners say they appreciate the Rogue’s driving experience and its high resale value. It may not be Consumer Reports’ favorite, but a lot of other folks like the Rogue.

The Rogue has a fuel efficiency advantage

The Rogue faces some stiff competition in its class. The 2022 Honda CR-V and Mazda CX-5 put up a good fight against the Rogue, and so do the Hyundai Tucson and Toyota RAV4. While the RAV4 and the CR-V are better selling, the Rogue does offer one thing those two don’t, a fuel-friendly 1.5-liter turbo motor. The little three-cylinder punches above its weight with 201 horsepower and 225 lb.-ft of torque. The EPA estimates the 2022 Rogue gets 33 mpg combined.

The 1.5-liter uses Nissan’s new variable compression engine technology, which is also used in the Infiniti QX50. The engine can adjust its compression ratio based on how you are driving. However, the Rogue does have a boring CVT transmission.

How much does a 2022 Nissan Rogue cost?

The 2022 Nissan Rogue starts at $26,700 for the front-wheel drive in S trim. It is offered in SV, SL, and Platinum versions. The top-level Platinum is $36,480. All-wheel drive is a $1,500 option on any trim. Three displays are available: a full-color 10.8-inch head-up display, a 12.3-inch Digital Dashboard gauge cluster and large, and a floating 9.0-inch touch screen. A heads-up display is also an option for $400 on the Platinum.

Nissan’s Safety Shield 360 is standard on the 2022 Nissan Rogue. It has a variety of safety aids, like automatic braking and cross-traffic alert, and lane departure warning.

The Rogue is in its third generation

The Rogue was first launched as a 2008 model. It was a simple five seat-SUV that kept that formula through the second generation, which was sold from 2014 to 2020. The current Rogue looks similar, but it’s on a wholly new platform. The new redesign seems to tick all of the right boxes for Nissan sales.
