Skip the Ford Raptor and Ram TRX, Buy a 2022 Chevy Silverado ZR2 Instead
If you’re in the market for an off-road capable performance pickup truck, the choice is obvious. A single internet search, and you’re going to want the Ford F-150 Raptor or Ram 1500 TRX. While both of these trucks are excellent options, they’re also costly. Contrarily, the 2022 Chevy Silverado ZR2 might be exactly what you’re looking for. It’s got most of the great features its rivals do, which makes the price astonishing. Here’s why you should buy a 2022 Chevy Silverado instead of a Ford Raptor or Ram TRX.
What is the price of a 2022 Chevy Silverado ZR2 pickup truck?
According to Muscle Cars & Trucks, you can’t build and price a Silverado ZR2 on the automaker’s website yet. Fortunately, those who work in dealerships can do it for their customers. One of those employees, Brian Mello, happens to be a YouTuber who gave the truck a complete breakdown. His video shows how much you can get into a fully loaded Silverado ZR2 and how the price differs from the base model.
The best part of all of that? Even with everything you could need in the ZR2, it’s still cheaper than both the Ford F-150 Raptor and Ram 1500 TRX. In conclusion, the suggested price of a 2022 Chevy Silverado ZR2 is $65,420, reaching as high as $67,115 with destination, freight, and optional paint color fees. Once it’s fully loaded, it jumps to $73,340, with fees included. For reference, a fully loaded Ford Raptor exceeds $80,000, and a Ram TRX with everything you can buy costs over $100,000.
2022 Chevy Silverado ZR2: Fully loaded features and price
What comes with a Silverado ZR2 when it’s as expensive as it gets? Firstly, it comes with a tech package filled with, you guessed it, technology. This tech package gives owners a rear camera mirror, a 15-inch heads-up display, adaptive cruise control, and a power tilt and telescoping steering column for $1,970. However, you’ll get it with the base model ZR2 for no extra cost. Plenty more items are available for an additional price, like a $995 power sunroof, $1,150 rocker guards, and the $445 multi-flex tailgate.
For $73,340, you’ll get all the power and capability of the ZR2 plus tons of technology. It easily rivals the Ford Raptor and Ram TRX but completely outperforms each competitor in price. We don’t think there are many features worth paying $10,000 or more for a truck that serves a similar purpose. Unless, of course, you want the Ram TRX with a Hellcat engine.
Even the base model ZR2 is well-equipped
As the cheapest version of the 2022 Chevy Silverado ZR2, the pickup truck is still a luxurious and capable ride. The base models are very similarly equipped, but again, the ZR2 is more affordable. An average buyer will be more than OK with Multimatic DSSV Dampers, Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT tires, locking front and rear differentials, and a 6.2-liter L87 V8 engine making 420 horsepower. Each item is standard with any ZR2, and buyers can always add more.
Additionally, fancy features cascade across the interior to ensure you’re riding in comfort. Things like 10-way power leather seats with heat and ventilation, a 13.4-inch infotainment display, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, and a heated steering wheel are always a welcomed surprise to a base model. Although it’s easily the least popular of the three, the most affordable ZR2 outdoes its base model opponents.
When will the 2022 Chevy Silverado ZR2 be available?
Chevrolet will open reservations for the 2022 Chevy Silverado ZR2 pickup truck toward the end of the first quarter of 2022. Over the next few weeks, keep an eye out for the online configurator to build and price your next big toy.
Thanks to the starting price point, fully loaded price point, and overall similar features and off-road prowess, the Silverado ZR2 is an easy choice. Most prominently, the significant price difference is a big reason to skip the Ford Raptor and Ram TRX and buy a 2022 Chevy Silverado ZR2 instead.
