According to Consumer Reports, the Honda Passport “has a stiffer ride than its sibling” the Honda Pilot and doesn’t offer any improvements when it comes to handling. Consumer Reports added that its “steering feels vague, which accentuates the SUV’s ponderous handling.”
Unfortunately for the Passport, a lackluster driving experience isn’t all Consumer Reports had to talk about. The infotainment system on this year’s model is particularly clunky and can be slow to respond to inputs.
As for its predicted reliability ratings? The 2020 Honda Passport tanked them. Consumer Reports gave it a one out of five predicted reliability rating. The most common trouble spots identified by Consumer Reports included the Passport’s in-car electronics and its climate systems.
The 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe is a better pick
Fortunately for SUV shoppers, there are better options available. Among them? The 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe. And as Consumer Reports so eloquently put it, the 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe is “the size of a midsized SUV but priced like a top-trim compact SUV.”

The 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe scored better reliability ratings too. This year’s Santa Fe earned a three out of five predicted reliability rating, unlike the Honda Passport.
