Skip the Toyota Corolla and Consider These Alternatives Instead
There’s no denying that the Toyota Corolla is pretty popular. But that doesn’t mean it’s the only option worth considering if you’re in the market for a compact sedan. So why not consider these alternatives to the Toyota Corolla instead?
The Hyundai Elantra is a cheaper alternative to the Toyota Corolla
The Toyota Corolla isn’t the most expensive sedan out there. A base model will run you around $20,025, which isn’t all that bad. Upgrade to the Toyota Corolla LE for added features like automatic climate control and an eight-inch touchscreen display, and you’ll be spending about $20,475. For a fully-loaded Corolla? You can expect to pay approximately $28,310.
But if you’re in the market for a cheaper alternative to the Toyota Corolla? You may want to check out the Hyundai Elantra. It was recently voted the North American Car of the Year and will only have you spending $19,650 on a base model. And if you’d prefer a more lavishly outfitted model? Opt for the range-topping Elantra Limited, which will only have you spending $25,450.
The Honda Civic is a more powerful and spacious alternative to the Toyota Corolla
The Hyundai Elantra isn’t the only alternative to the Toyota Corolla. For another alternative to this year’s Toyota Corolla, you’re going to want to check out the Honda Civic. Unlike Toyota Corolla, this year’s Civic comes powered by a 158-hp 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. The Corolla, on the other hand, comes standard with a 139-hp 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine.
But the Honda Civic isn’t just more powerful than the Toyota Corolla. It’s also a more spacious option than the Corolla. While the Corolla offers up 88.6 cubic-feet of passenger space, the Honda Civic boasts 95 cubic-feet of passenger space.
For a rugged alternative to the Toyota Corolla, consider the Subaru Impreza
Of course, there’s a chance that the Honda Civic isn’t the right fit for you either. If that’s the case, then you should probably consider the Subaru Impreza. This rugged alternative to the Toyota Corolla comes standard with all-wheel drive. And if you think that you can get a Toyota Corolla with all-wheel drive? Think again. It’s not even an option.
But the Subaru Impreza is more than a rugged alternative to the Toyota Corolla. Much like the Hyundai Elantra, the Subaru Impreza boasts a cheaper base price than the Toyota Corolla. Like the Honda Civic, it’s also more spacious than the Toyota Corolla.
These aren’t the only alternatives to consider
Now, there are plenty of other alternatives to the Toyota Corolla out there. According to Consumer Reports, the Mazda3 did slightly better in road tests than the Toyota Corolla. The Volkswagen Golf also makes for a decent alternative to the Toyota Corolla and, according to Car and Driver, is much more enjoyable to drive. But to really find out which of these options is the right choice for you? Well, that’s going to take a test drive.
